Darth, I do run the desktop below 1024x768 (so I can see it OK) but the machine is capable of 1280x1024. The game auto switches to 1024x768, so in my case, the warning seems useless; since the game knows it can switch to the higher resolution, why bother with the message? Oh, Oh! I'm being picky, huh? Sorry 'bout that. But Thanks!!! for the response. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_

I'm playing version 1.11 and note the following: 1) When I load the game it pops up an error message to the effect that I need to reset my monitor to 1024 by 768 in order to play. Then it goes ahead and loads the game correctly anyway. So why the error message? 2) These two are more like annoyances (to me) rather than bugs (I guess): a) The minimap is way too small. I mean almost uselessly small. OK, I wear glasses, but still... Could it be enlargable? (Is that even a

Thanks, Byram. Don't know why I couldn't figure that out. And, when I do it that way, the "Find" button works for ships that still have movement left. Duh! Sometimes I wish all games of the same type used the same controls...but that's another story.

I thought ships would move by themselves when you click the Turn button. Doesn't happen. The ship icons say "auto move" but they don't. What's going on here? I'm missing something...right? Also, the Find button should take me to the next unmoved ship, shouldn't it? But it doesn't. Help appreciated!

Don't know about the mods, but as for MOO2, I thoroughly enjoy upgrading ships and I for sure don't get bored with it. The thing about MOO2 is the variety of upgrades possible -without- having to change the hull size. Sure, not many shapes, but that doesn't bother me. It's what's inside that matters! IMO.

Thanks Marcathonas et al, I do 'preciate it. I hope my questions didn't sound too negaive. I actually liked 1, and played it a lot before I got seriously aggravated by the load time issue. And, truth to tell, that's part of the reason I upgraded again. So I'll buy 2. Wrong thread for this, but I do like what I've seen about 2. Reminds me of MOO3 somewhat. That's a game that had great potential, but...(you fill in the blank!). If anybody can make it work, Stardock can. <img src="ht

Yup, I agree. I don't think much of Civ4, in fact I've uninstalled it. High on graphics, a great in-game map editor, and after that, nothing that Civ3 didn't do better. As for MoM, I still play it on an old P2 with Win98. Sound is not good, but so what. What I like is that it's complex, but not TOO complex; no frills, just a darn good pla

I own and play(ed) GalCiv 1, but before I buy 2, I'd really like to know about a few things. 1) Has the long reload problem been fixed? I run Win2000 with a 3 ghz P4 and 500+ MB mem, but when I played in a large galaxy, and the game was approaching mid-point, it'd takes up to 10 minutes (some times longer) to reload a saved game. (Yeah, I was running with the latest patches.) That's the main reason I quit playing the game. 2) Does it still take 20 or 25 turns to move from one side
