It is pretty bad tbh, it has a feel of being developed at mum's basement. Gfx are bad, every single task requires so much clicking i am glad my mice is a rechargable one (Logitech g7). Music score is Bad but it doesn't compare to the click sound effect which unfortunately you can not turn off. It has great amount of depth and complexity built in mostly connected to the tech tree. And you can do some amazing and original stuff like building ringworlds or dyson spheres, there are

I tend to go for better quality planets, if there is a batch both AI's and i am racing for i take over the highest PQ's. Higher PQ= more population and influence which means i get those planets eventually anyay and everything built on them.
that default button sure is hard to see. I suggest we make it black on black and hide it altogether...
Hillarious, it had some problems on release version but nothing serious, most certainly never a hard crash for me. v1.1 well it has been running constant for 3 days. (I forgot to quit the game when i was leaving for a trip) Me nor other 5 ppl i know to have this game have not had a single crash since v1.1 came out.
If there are higher levels than masochistic i have not seen them. AI is doing a very fine job of handing me my butt back in a bun at a large galaxy with 9 opponents thank you... It is not it's technology or cleverness. economy penalty for player is a bit on the rough side, and bonus for AI is a bit extreme imo. But there is always lower difficulty settings.
It doesn't really matter. I stopped trying to play the game as well due to CTD's. B4 u ask, here is my config: P4 3.8 Prescott 4GB Ram ATI x1800 256 MB way more than enough disk space also (300GB free on primary disk)
As of today i gave up trying to play this game. Do not get me wrong it is a great piece of work, and i love it to bits. I have been playing (trying to) since the hour it was released. And i have not been able to finish a single game outside campaign yet. Constant crashes are past being annoying. I have a very powerful rig, way above minimum or recommended specs and being an 4x TBS fan, i like my epic games. Which means i want to play it on gigantic maps with zillion opponents at hard
In my current game, AI builds them like there is no tomorrow. I had to race for weapons tech and shoot down several to colonize several good star systems.
You can build them pretty quickly , there is an option to focus your production in Military/Social/Research and i am pretty sure AI uses it as much as i do. Try clicking the small bullseye like icon on your planet screen next to industrial capacity readouts
Just buy it electronically from this site. you won't regret it. we loose the cd/box anyway. And that way, stardock makes more money off the game which i believe they deserve...
First of all thx for this game SD. On the planets ship building screen if you click on shipyard and design a new ship, you can not save that design, confirmation box never appears. And when you cancel that upgrade or design it soes back to ship building screen and prompts you x times for you to name that design (x being how many times you have tried to save that design in shipyard screen). You can not save your design since you canceled it and when you click on cancel there boom CTD!<
