The gme tries to open only a partial window. Though I believe the lst time i played it it ws full-screen at 1920x1080 or 1680x 1050. I chneed windows 7 64-bit screen resolution to all possibiklities nd it still will not run. No visual or sound effects. Is there a way to reset screen resolution without opening the whole program? Also are there any known bugs with windows 7 64-bit or with the Radeon HD 6950. Before I had a Radeon 4870. Running with latest Catlyst drivers.

I just changed my motherboard and cpu and video card this week. I now have an AMD Phenom 3600 processor and an AT HD3870 video card. Twilight of the Arnor just leaves a black screen when I open the program. I can close it by going back to the desk top with an Alt Tab but why is it not working. The previous Gall Civ II expansion works fine- Dread Lords
Which brings up the question anyhow: Are you gonna release TA on storeshelves as well, or only online? Looks like it's going to be online only, at least for now. If you order a CD it will likely be just the CD in an envelope as with DA. That is NOT right. I am supposed to have access to all products including GCII products and add-os with my credits from TGN. It's time for Frogboy to step in andcorrect this
Can I use my tokens on TGN to purchase Twilight of the Arnor. I do not see an option to do that.
I have had the same memory-related crashes since before D.A. was released and all throughout its development. I have sent the debug.err file in on 3 occasions. They just can never resolve this issue. Stop blaming the user. I have turned off anti-aliasing, I have turned of ship textures. I have 2 GB of physical mmeory and very large page files for my partitions as was suggested. I have done my part. I do NOT think Stradock has a good handle on this. They have acknowledged the memory issues for
I have reported crashes with D.A. since its first release mainly centering on out of memory crashes and Nvidia display driver crashes. I was hoping with 1.61 it was fixed. It sure seemed smoother . But this program still has memory handling problems. I have 2 GB of memory and a very large page file and it still crashes in a huge universe when you have colonized many planets and have built many custom ships. I have turned testures off and all anti-aliasing yet this bug still persists. I can pla
My bug is that any ship I upgrade when I am building custom made huge ships turns into a Overlord instead of my more powerful design. That is all my older ships when upgraded tuen into overlords. The new ones are ok. Running latest DA 1.61
I have a bug in D.A. 1.6 . It had worked flawlessly until I updated my Nvidia driver for my 7800GTX card as Cari Elf had recommended. I have tried to drag and drop debug.err file to this post unsuccessfully you should have an attachment link but you don't. I het a memory dump which points to nv_4display.dll. I had this problem in the past. Since Stardock had fixed this when D.A. came out. I don't know why your code conflicted with the new Nvidia driver, which Cari Elf said would address my long
I would love for the game not to crash so much.
Before this release I was getting the Blue screen of death. Now every hour or less of play and this game crashes back to the windows desktop and a message whether to send the error data to Microsoft appears. This is the buggiest recent release of Dark Avatar. The one immediately preceding this was far beyter but still occasionally crashed with the blue screen dump. Cari is aware of the problems I have been experiencing.
I have a Nvidia driver problem with a7800GTX card. Every 2 or three days it crashes and does a physical memory dump when playing D>A. It mentions the Nvidia_4.dll. It refers to a page memory fault at non-paging address whatever that means. I would like some attention paid to this as I called it in before D.A. went gold and was told it should be solved with the released product. It has occurred again on the released product, so it obviously has not been fixed.
Every few days I get a crash in Dark Avatar which gives a blue screen and refers nv4-display.dll. It says a page fault in a non-paging area. I have an Nvidia 7800GTXand am using the latest Nvidia driver. Can somebody explain what I can do about this problem?? I am running on an Athlon64 x2 4400 cpu with 2 x 1MB cache on cpu. I have a large cache assigned to memory paging.
Cari, I have a x2 4400 processor with 2x 1MB cache. I have ntoiced some crashes and many reboots of the system with this processor only with Galciv2 specifically with the Dark Avatar beta. I had the latest AMD driver but that has not helped. I just installed a hotfix ,mentioned on this forum, from Microsoft. No reboot yet. The AMD driver and website you mentioned downloads at dial-up speed when I have a 30Mb/ second connection so I gave up on it. I am running XP MediaCenter 2005 with all fixes
I pre-ordered with tokens a couple of months ago. But there was no option from what I recall to oder the hardcopy with the tokens. What do I do to guarantee I get the hardcopy I desire? I had leftover tokens at the time and what have gladly used them to pay for the added hardciopy expense. It was not an option to my dismay.
Just crashed with huge universe near end of game just shy of achieving technology for excalibur ships. Crash occurred when attempting to save game. The old bug of "out of memory, increase your virtual memory came up. Thisis a joke because I recntly installed a new system board with 2 GB fast pc4000 rma and an Athlon 64 3800+ cpu. This is a serious error if I get memory errors with 2 GB of physical memory installed. You guys have to get crackin. I have the latest stable Nvidia drivers download
Yes that is exactly it. The crashes do not occurr even in a huge universe until you can build huge ships with many weapon and defense arrays. That is after MANY, Many hours of play.
I must commend Stardock ,and CariElf in particular, in resolving the memory fragmentation issue in a rapid manner , once the issue was known. The quality of the fix is EXCELLENT. The game saves are extremely fast now, faster than they ever were. I know Stardock has a quality team of people and I do not want any of my criticisms to be construed as anything else than a call to improve testing methodology to avoid a repeat in the future. I know there will always be bugs, I just wanted a better s
I would like you to agree to amend your comment Brad. If any user chose a huge universe and built a huge ship with a full allotment of weapons and defenses and had less than 2 GB of physical memory, they indeed would have experienced this problem later in their games. To characterize the problem as experienced by say 15% of users is highly inaccurate. That implies the problem was the users configuration. It was NOT the user configuration that was at issue. It was a problem of memory management
Where is the link for build 13?. Thanks.
I was surprised after installing build11 of the patch how fast the first two saves were after the first turn and after the 3rd turn. Then I didn't dsave for another 6 turns and the old superlong save with crash occurred. The error message was out of memory. I have my virtual memory set to 4 GB. I have 1 GB of physical memory. I had even eliminated a couple of ship designs from shipyards, though I did not have any ships with those designs. Ihad about 2 dozen of my own SuperNova class shi
I made a comment on the first issue you raised. It is a completely legitimate criticism and I was flamed for it. I have no gods or heros that I worship. There is nothing in this universe that is perfect. All should be able to be scrutinized and critiiczed, including me. I believe the antagonism exists because I said "there is no excuse" for Stardock to have tested 1.1 development only on 2gigabytes of memory. I will not temper that remark, it is entirely fair. I also said that assumptions are
I was not criticizing the effort for the 1.0 release. I specifically referred to the 1.1 release. Please get your facts straight.
I never used the word dumb or stupid. So forget the hyperbole.
I was not egotistically promoting anything. And you certainly will not squelch me. The thread was about the 1.1 memory problem. I have the problem big-time. If you did not attempt to muzzle me would have already moved on by now. So stop your personal attacks. I never made one in any of my posts. I posted a factual description of my own experiences with the memory crashes on the other similar thread in the forum area. I was not seeking a debate about os/2 or windows, simply making an obs
My crashes occurr only at time of saving, which usually goes on for 7 or 8 minutes before finally crashing. I had created a custom ship , I called Super Nova class. It was huge with many weapons and armor and defenses etc. But I never used any skins or extras for appearnce. I probably had 10 to 12 of these active at any given time in my huge galaxy. I has these ships before the 1.1 beta was released with no problems . I only started to use the 1.1 beta after its fifth iteration.
