Thanks for the assist folks! It really turned into a comedy of errors befor it was all over. I did, in fact, have to uninstall the old drivers. And when I tried to install the latest-greatest, I encountered an 'access denied' error in spite of the fact I was in an admin account... required some registry editing to get it straightened out. So with tonight's d/l I finally got past the black-screen lockup. The opening screen is fine except that the menu options on the right of the screen are quite faint. And when I select "New Game" I get the screen jitters and parts of the menu, the 'overlays' if you will, are shifted to the right I think and invisible in places, making the interface useless.
