Stardock wanted to release high res textures after the initial release chaos dies down (and I hope they'll do it soon ), other than that I haven't heard of any, apart from imported models.

I remember how MoO3 was *slightly* 3D and it was already very annoying because stars seemed closer than they were and you had to rotate all the time to see the real distance. I don't even want to try to play a game on a true 3D map (and my 3D spatial sense is excellent, thank you ). Ascendany was 3D, yes, but then again you only could follow the star lanes so it d

Leave it as it is. Even if it only took five minutes to "fix" (which it won't... don't forget events like the UP assembly (once a year) or laws (running for x years) or elections (twice a year) which would have to be changed as well), I'd rather see them spending those five minutes on the AI and bug fixing. Not to mention that I don't see how changing weeks to month will accomplish anything... so it doesn't take 10 years to conquer the gala

I had a similar bug, for one turn the Arcean's influence was so high that the whole map was yellow and the ip ratio on the planets was about 130 and I got all kinds of warnings about rebellions. Fortunately one turn later all was back to normal. (and no, I neither saved nor loaded the game at any point).

On the page you mention, there should also be a download for the bonus pack, including the patch. Your game should then say 1.0X on the main menu screen.

Not that discussion again, please! Dead horses and suff. Not only dead but decaying. I'd like the UP to work a little more like in Alpha Centauri. At least allow us to buy votes from others during the meetings or something. Better yet, allow to vote a "leader" who can then bring forth issues to vote on. Actually, there are a lot of things you can change with respect to the UP, which would make the game feel way more alive with all the

While I wouldn't call them the "worst ever", I agree that they are pretty useless. They don't tell you about gameplay, they only tell you about the features in a very, very limited fashion. They are actually more advertising videos than tutorials. Something you'd give out prior to release to give the people something to drool over.

Nerva, while I see your points and I can't disagree with them in general, you simply should go and look for another game. The stuff you want here is so far from what GalCiv II is, you will never get it in this game, no matter how many upgrades and expansions there'll be.

1. Certain events may make them inhabitable. They prevent you from seeing where the habitable planets are on the minimap (if all were habitable, you'd just have to go to them). And they add atmosphere. Other than that they are useless. 2. Check your options, there are several switches. Default is "fleets only" and since the Drengin ship was no fleet, it didn't show the battle. 3. I don't know how important morale is (or if at all)

Lol, waving the "fanboy" flag won't help you here. I think you are confusing two things, anyway: What you describe in your last post has nothing to do with whether social spending is on or not. Even if you didn't have to *pay* for unused social spending, you still had to adjust the sliders to balance between military, social and research. So what you write - "for larger ships you need to increase manufacturing facilities and then set social to zero, reversing this when finished, and

Well, if the random events aren't significant, why having them at all? I don't think something like the above mentioned "one factory destroyed" will make any difference to the game, so you might as well turn off the random events completely. Sure, some are really changing the flow of the game, but what's bad about that? They don't happen often enough to make the game feel random and I don't mind something exciting happening every couple of

Uhm, there is no way to tell whether it's a bug. In fact, since it's hard not to notice (and devs commented on it before, so they know about it), it is a "feature" and the manual simply is wrong/outdated. I don't know why they chose to do it the way they did, but I guess it has to do with balancing. Besides, it rarely happens that you build nothing on your planets and if it does, then it's only logical to change your slider and stop social spending altogether or reduce it

You have to send a constructor to a star base and then you are asked whether you want to build an additional module (and which one). Note: You need one constructor per module.

No there isn't and it might be added in an expansion if enough people want it and Stardock feels like it (even though I hope they rather put in some other nice features. ). Also check the numerous other threads on this topic for details.

Uhm.... what? Core designs can't be modified, true, but what stops you from making your own designs using large hulls? I don't think I understand what your problem is here.

I don't know about planets and colony ships but I *do* know that my ship on auto-survey always goes for anomalies in unexplored parts of the map. Just start and set your flag ship to auto-survey and it'll start racing around the galaxy without you ever scouting anything.

Brad stated that the espionage system was something he isn't happy with, so chances are good it will get a major overhaul in an expansion.
