In its classic form, the financial paranoid have to punish the majority because they simply can't control the actions of the few. Yet.in the long run such practices never work. Most of the computer gaming industry has never really had any pulse on its gamer's dilemnas. With its totally and misleading "requirement specs", most PC game producers have always designed games by using the leading technology available and just assumed we gamers could dumb down the options and make it play on any

The most important thing about Starcraft is if you are comparing a Single player game vs Multiplayer.. Starcraft was a great fun game in the Campaign mode but playing against the AI in any single player map was never fun, due to rush tactics by the AI..before you could ever build you were being attacked..!! Multiplayer against another human was a more balanced game.. As for SINS, I have not played it but from every thing I've seen and read it's more like Homeworld on steroids..
Would like to request an update to the Dread Lords version of Galactive Civ 2. First off,, not everyone loves everything being thrown into Dark Aviatar, for one I think the whole "mining" premise really adds nothing and looks cheesy as compared to the rest of the game. The Universe starts to look like a junkyard.. And the graphics are more intense (even tho I turned options down) and although I am above recommended specs, DA runs much more sluggish than DL... If nothing e
Why was this only made for Dark Avatar ?? I thought its graghics were already better ?? And why almost immediately after its release ?? GalCiv2 never had such a facelift..
To say that a human is always a better opponent than an AI is pretty silly.. Over the years I've played dozens of turn-based games against a good AI that always made it challenging..can't say that about multiplayer,, some were good , some were poor and also the AI doesn't find reasons to quit ( go offline ) when you're ahead.. And the AI is always there ready for you.. It's just up to programmers to dedicate the time and effort... On Space games,,Some of my AI Battles in games like M
I only have a PCI slot too.. Last year I purchased the Ati Radeon 9250 and also the Nvidia FX 5500... they were both about the same price.. I have found the FX 5500 much more reliable for gaming... it runs GC2 fine..
I have tried to click on other starbases and/or my planets to unhighligh the starbase but since 1.2 it simply has NOT worked This really needs to be fixed asap..
Okay,, so I click on a Starbase to see it's area of influence, and since 1.2 ,when I try to "unclick" it,, there is no reaction, it stay permantely high-lighted. This is irritating. Now I don't even bother to check anymore because of it.. :(
My music sometimes skips when a new pop-up of news occurs or the research screen appears,,but not during just regular turns.. did you try re-installing the game without the 1.11 patch and seeing if it still happens.. that way you might see if its the patch or possible another program that affected your sound drivers..etc.. just a thought.
After installing the 1.2 beta,, I played a game with random opponents and one of my opponents popped up as the "wire-framed custom race"....
No need to offer the debug file.. The game runs just fine...and in 1024 mode.... My point was there is no need for that show-stopping, alarming ,obnoxious popup to appear on my 800 x 600 desktop ... please get rid of it... !!
Dyna,, you mentioned dropping Star Density to 500.. How did you do that ? Only options I see for Density are "scattered" clusters,, tight clusters etc..
Okay,, I've tried the Guard command but it never really asks "what" to Guard...nor does it seem to Guard..does it actually work ? Just curious about that and the Sentry command... thanks..
I'm not sure how you implement your "hit N run" tactics when its the AI turn and he is destroying your oribtal ships one after another,,..hmmm And as for seeing them coming and attacking them first.uh,, why would it be more prudent to attack them outside of orbit as opposed to in orbit ?? learning as I go here..
oooops,, I thought I had purchased one already...nevermind
Okay,, so 4 enemy ships are attacking my planet.. I have 6 ships orbiting it so I'm not too concerned.. but their 4 ships are attacking only one of my ships at a time ??? Can that be right ??? very confused n surprising..
I am one of those guys that is NOT going to run out and buy a new video card every time a particular game does not function 100 percent.. Fist of all the card more than meets the recomendations.. The whole battle between Ati cards (Raedon) and Nvida Cards is getting ridiculous.. One type runs some games better while the other runs the others.. The other problem of course is running games under the resource insane and non-game friendly XP envirem
Is there any option to Turn-Off in game movies.like when you first build a large ship etc.. Game runs perfecrtly but once those movies start its stutter time !!!
wow,, is a little more involved than I thought.. thanks tho.. let me ask this.. is it possible to say just replace the default ships for the Terran race... Since those are the ones I would consider replacing anyway,, would that not be easier so that they are automatically available for every game without all that upgrading etc.. ???
Can someone please explain, in Easy terms, how you actually get new ship models into your game.. I tried installing the file into the Ship Folder but can't see them in any selection window once the game has started..
Is there any way to turn off that intial "resolution pop-up warning" when starting the game ? My desktop is 800 x 600 and I get that irritating warning that it won't run blah, blah,, yet then proceeds to run the game just fine.. I play a lot of games in 1024 or higher and never have to change my desktop,,.. thanks
The Only problems I'm having with GalCiv2 since I updated to the current beta patch is loading saved games... I crash to desktop regularly now... Game itself plays fine,,I save,,exit.. then try to start a saved game and BOOM
hmmm,, I am using a GeForce 5500 PCI card but with 256 memory and I have none of the problems you are describing...
