Hello all, I've always run GalCiv2 on an old Windows 2k box and am returing to the game after a long hiatus. Stardock Central is gone and it looks like Impulse is the replacement. Trouble for me is that Impulse won't run on anything but XP and Vista. Is there any other way to get patches aside from having Impulse installed? Manually installation of patches and similar? Thanks for any insight you can provide... -cc<span style="whit

Thank you for asking! My requests are humble. I miss the game recap that was seen in GalCiv1 titled "The Story So Far". It gave a quick text recap of how was at war, where I stood amongst the others, what the galactic trends were. It was nice two ways. First, it refreshed my memory of what I was doing since I last played. Second, it added a bit more immersion factor into play. Good stuff!
Warlords III: Dark Lords Rising from Redorb (at the time). Ah, good fun... Still a favorite... -cc
How about "pips"? -cc
Beta 1.2 has a parameter in the options menu for simple explosions. -cc
Strange... But is there any way to delete ships from a past game that you are unlikely to use again through the UI? I made a number of them in a past game that are sort of, well, dumb. Or any way to see these ships before you have the required tech? Sometimes I forget I designed a particularly cool ship and forget what techs I need to get there. -cc
Just trying to squeak out a few more frames per second. If I am in icon mode, things move pretty quickly. But I really like to take a graphical look see, especially when trying out newer ships. I actually just found that enabling hardware transform and lighting actually sped up things. I would have thought it would slow things down, so things are looking a bit snappier. cc
I understand the poster's concerns. Even on a small map for me, I get about 5 FPS when looking at the screen with a moderate number of planets and ships. It's very likely because the engine is trying to render all the little movements of the planets and ships even at the most extreme zoom out ranges. Probably would be good if there was an option to prevent the animations AND/OR an option to prevent the animations from a specific zoom level onward. -cc
I think the poster wrote 1,7 ghz. Probably from outside of the US where commas are used for placeholders. So this equates to 1.7ghz. -cc
Hello everyone... I have a system that is a bit higher than the min specs: 1ghz, 512mb RAM, nVidia 256mb video in summary. Running at 32b colors, 1024X768 resolution in game. I haven't seen a lot on how to tune performance on the boards, so I'm looking for any lessons learned or tips you might share. Here's my scenario: Small game, eight factions, mid-way through the game. () I get fine turn performance and usually don't have much of a wait for
