I haven't played in a while. Grad school is rough. I've noticed I've dropped dramatically in the ranks in my absence, and that Ray is no longer on top. I was checking out the top guy, Greldon, and noticed that he often wins multiple games in one day. For example, on 3/21, he won no less than 5 Huge Maso games with a perfect score. How is this even possible? It usually took me about 5 hours to win a medium Maso game. I've never even tried huge, cause I don't got that kind of time.

Well, looks like I'm not gonna get to try anything out till the summer maybe. Too much work :( ~SDC~
Thanks a bunch, guys. I'll give it another go in December (Xmas break!) after I climb out from under the pile of work I've got right now.
How do people take down maso civs that get too big? I just won my first maso ever, on medium. I only play medium and below cause I don't have time for larger maps in grad school. I'm just wondering what people typically do when a civs grows out of control? In this game the Torians were unstoppable, and no amount of diplomacy would keep them in check. It was everything I could do just to keep them from attacking me ever. They must have had 7-8 times my military power. There was no way I
couslee, I just finished my first maso game, and I've been playing crip for a while. I always play populist with diplo and trade bonuses. On crip they'll trade with you no prob. On maso it seems that they won't very much, but what it does do is helps keep you on everyone's good side (or at least on their neutral side) so that you can sit in the middle and play them against each other and pick them off one by one. ~SDC~
I'm in, direct.
If you wanna protect a minor without going to war, just surround their star with star fighters or something cheap. Only takes 8 of them. No one can get in or out that way.
All I've played are tiny, small, and medium, so I should be able to help you out. I don't have time for larger maps. And I can take down crip no prob. I still can't get a handle on maso, though, so you're on your own there. Okay, here goes... My current fovorite civ-stats right now are Populist party (morale +20, dip +20), along with trade +30 and dip +60 bonuses. Any level of habitable planets is fine, but I'd avoid abundant, cause then AI pops get too stinkin big and it's very difficu
AI needs to manage its ships better. It leaves its systems with very little defense and attacks one ship at a time, instead of moving in fleets. It also never notices if you park ships outside its sectors, only within its sectors, and then only on the highest 3 difficulty levels. It's too easy to position yourself to take out many (or all, on medium maps and below) of their systems in one go. Even if they're not at war and have their systems loaded, you can bribe them to go to war, and as so
I was playing a game where I had about 10 rangers in a fleet with a terror star to keep it same, and sometimes I could move the t-star 8 times, which is was the same as my rangers at the time if they weren't in the fleet. It would say that it had 8/1 moves. Sure made wiping out planets a lot faster! But it's not exactly the way it's supposed to be.
What I would like best is an in game graphical tech tree. It's almost painful to handle tech in this game, especially with the way the scroll works. I've got things down in my mind up to about dread-tech, but beyond that I'm just researching whichever of my next options sounds good rather than having a clear goal of what I'm trying to reach down the road. Other than that I love this game!
