OK, this helps a bit. Can someone tell me if this is correct? Your research facilities set the "ceiling" for research points (flasks). But you need money to reach that ceiling. So, in my case, where one world has 40 tp, but I'm only getting 28 for my total empire, to get better research, I should invest in markets, not labs, right?

How does the slider on your main screen relate to the number of labs you have, etc. For example, I have 2 labs (8 tp) and one civ capital (24 tp) on my homeworld. Should be 40 tp (what is a tp?). The research on the top right is 17 (17 what? I'm not sure, its not labeled). From the domestic screen, my research rate is 70% and i have a total of 28 bc spent on research. No, its not on a planet I conquered, and its not in a queue. Any idea?

I'm playing as Terran and I don't get an option to build a manf capital. Its not on a planet I conquered. And I've got Xeno Industrial Theory (not sure if I researched it or trade for it). Any ideas?

I was planning to put a tech captial on my planet with 10 research centers. But I conquered a planet (with only one research center) that already had a tech capital. Now I can't build a tech capital. How can I get rid of the tech capital on the other planet???? Also, is there a search function on this message board? I can't seem to find it.
