This was a clean XP install no upgrade from 98. I've got IE 6.0, and netscape.

Does anyone know of a fix for xp shutting down problem ? I've tried the sp1 patch from microsoft, and a whole other things. The pc just stops at the windows is shutting down screen.

Still nothing new. I left in sitting there for about 6 hours. Still won't shut down..

There are no other programs running in the background. Every program shuts down properly, but the pc does not go any further than the windows is shuttting down screen. I also went to the link and did the download update with no luck. Nezter
