Fascinating reading this thread - seems there's no one winning strategy. Some do one thing and others do the opposite. Sign of a great game?

Fascinating - hadn't thought of that - extra capacity allows you to up production when you need it(if you have the money). The more I see of this game the more fascinating it becomes.
.... from which I deduce trade is the key. Thanks for that (I haven't done much with trade so far).
Thanks for the replies - just to be sure I have this right from what you are saying - 100% is both achievable and normal? I've struggled to get the gov exp slider above 50% which must mean I need more econ / trade? Can someone suggest the sort of things I should be building? Thanks.
Hi - fantastic game, thoroughly enjoyin it, but one question for the experts please. Should I expect to be able to put the gov expenditure slider to 100%, or is a lower figure more normal, as with morale. I assume if gov exp is lower than 100% I have bought factories etc which I can't afford to use - so presumably I have wasted some resources somewhere - perhaps not got the industry - economy etc balance right. Grateful for your help
Hi all, I've been lurking here for a while. Having seen all the good press the game went to the top of my birthday wish list and is promised for next week. While I'm waiting, and given I don't have stacks of spare time for games, can the experts advise how to quickly learn the game. Is there a tutorial? What are the best game settings for quickly learning the concepts? Should I read the manual (shock horror)?! Does one with the game - or do you use the encylopedia info? All help gratefull
