Make sure you're running the latest Firefox (1.5 or higher). That fixed the endless "processing data" on my end.
Regarding the music, it will change during the course of the game. If you're at war or at peace, whether winning or losing, etc. There are a number of different tracks.
The birds chirping, etc play only in the planet details screen. When looking at your colony, click the Details button.
I got the same error earlier today. I read that the Metaverse was down, but I don't know if that was the reason for the error, or because I patched the game before finishing it.
Yeah, that won't work. You need to size the extra before placing it.
He did list two gameplay bugs. Granted, the detail is sparse, but the 2nd bug mentioned should be simple to verify. I've got a 700% production planet I can't build a star port anymore making it effectively useless. I have a Galactic Law that works the exact opposite way it supposed to, taxing me thousands of BC for en
If you don't have orbital fleet managers, you could park a fleet outside your planet, and set to "auto attack". Any ships come into sensor view, and the fleet will chase after it. Just be careful with that - your planet will be undefended, so you'll need to remember to bring the fleet back after they destroy the invader!
I'll take a crack at some of the questions 1. The search is just to the left, under the Recent Posts area. ... 3. It depends. The super projects benefit the entire empire. Research from all planets go into a "research pot", and is applied towards current research. Whereas factories benefit building on that planet only. It's definitely possible and desirable in some cases to specialize planets. For instance, you would want to bu
That looks amazing! I'm trying to imagine how could the battle view would look with the robots firing shots. Good job.
Alarm clock, a la MOO 3 Yes, I know. MOO 3 sucked big ****** *****, and this is a different game. The one cool thing about it was a featured alarm clock. The alarm was set in-game, and a box would pop up to tell you it was time to go . Pity I never used it, but I think it would be very useful in GalCiv II. My day job is suffering terribly, because of this game. I CURSE YOU, Frogboy! If only GalCiv had an alarm clock to warn me it's 3 AM. Play i
Meanwhile I'll bet if you used the searched function on the left side of the forum page and typed , Tech Tree, into it you would find what you're looking for. Wha...? When did they add the search feature? We've been asking for a search option for what seems like forever. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif" bor
We've been unable to reproduce the Processing Data... freeze with Firefox 1.5.0.1 Andrew, even though you refused to help me because you hate Linux (just kidding) I just wanted you to know that upgrading Firefox from 1.0.7 to 1.5.0.1 fixed the problem. I appreciate your help toda
Ask and ye shall receive. I'm running Firefox 1.0.7 over Redhat EL 3. After logging in, I click the Add Player button here: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=managecharacters Enter a character name, and the serial number Stardock support told me to use this morning (so I know it's valid). Then click the Add Character button. A window appears which says "Processing Data...". Nothing more. Here's a screenshot: <IMG src="http:/
Same endless "processing data" problem here with Firefox. Does the Metaverse only work with IE?
...it's not the Windows programmers who should be the ones to make sure their product works on "alien" OSses Aw, come on. Didn't you see the movie "Independence Day"? We all saw how easy it was to write a computer virus which disabled the alien shields. Can't be that hard!
Can you give an example of components that do this? It makes sense for engines to get bigger, since there is greater mass. Or life support, because of the greater volume that needs "supporting". Do sensor components, or weapons get bigger as well? I can't think of any valid reason to explain why that would be.
I second that motion. How about also adding a random setting to which races will be in the game, or even random per-race difficulty? I made a similar post last week, but I think it got lost in the haystack
If it's not too late in the game, I think it would be fun to have a random option in the Choose Opponents screen. For instance, to be able to randomize which races will be in the game, as well as perhaps randomize the difficulty of each race. IMO that would really add to the replayability factor and make things interesting. Apologies if this suggestion has been made before. The lack of a search button in the forums makes it
Claims of Galciv being childish have been branded about on popular forums many times. What is the context? I have never heard or seen any posts claiming Galciv to be "childish". Space monsters are FUN! Maybe the idea of a space shark is lame, but not much worse than the colony-eating space crystal from ST:TNG. I, for one, vote to keep t
Jupiter is PQ0 (it is by far TOO large to be sat on) Venus PQ Is 4(it can be surived but is EXTREMLY Hostile) In the current beta, all gas giants are always 0 - that would include Jupiter and Saturn. As far as Venus goes, it's also got to be 0. Come on, the surface is hot enough to melt lead! Nothing can survive that. <img src="smiles/Smile
I have also experienced this. I started seeing it with Beta 2. At first, I thought that perhaps DirectX was to blame, but installing the latest & greatest version of DirectX did not resolve. I have since upgraded my video card to double the memory I had before (now 128 MB), but the problem persists. I had hopes that Beta 3 would fix it, but it has not. Any ideas for troubleshooting this? The rest of my specs are P4 2.5 GHz w/ 512 MB RAM. The video card is an Nvidia. I forget th
It's been a while since I've been to the forums. I am absolutely THRILLED about GalCiv2. I pre-ordered the CD yesterday and am downloading the beta as we speak! I hope I can make a positive contribution to the final product. Frogboy and the gang do such great work, it feels good to see them succeed. The big gaming companies could learn a thing or two from this bunch. [Edit - took out the rude remarks about MOO3 and certain dishonest publishers - heheh] If only there was a L
