Window XP as well. I couldn't boot to WinXP and had to use GoBack to recover my system. ~SDC~

I posted this in another thread (FAQ: DL problems) as well. Running SDC .99a 139. GalCiv, bonus pick and windowed mode are already installed but I stopped the multimedia download since I didn't want to wait. Now Gal Civ is not longer listed under my drengin.net tab (I only bought GalCiv) even though I'm properly registered and already installed except for the multimedia. Using the Atlanta server and my serial number is properly only in the Galciv box (no serial for drengin.net since I

Found Apolyton.net when looking for MOO3 previews and stumbled upon GalCiv. Lucky me, found the better game. :D
Lucian is right on the money. I read a very detailed review comparing Intel hyperthreading/non-hyper vs. AMD traditional memory/nForce DUAL channel memory configuration and in almost every test (not just games) the dual channel memory capability provided the most significant boost to performance (as much as 15% with ALL OTHER COMPONENTS THE SAME). HYPErthreading, extra emphasis on hype. ;)
3D could certainly be done. It's been done in more combat oriented games (Homeworld for example). I think that would be an interesting approach to this genre. Regarding the original post, I'm not sure how a flat map used to represent a spherical planet would translate into a 3 dimensional galaxy? The planet map (earth for example) is simply a 2d surface map. The LEFT side joins the RIGHT side to create a continuous world (the sphere). How will this work for a 3D galaxy? Seems that
Steve, I just checked and the option is there for me. It's NOT near you nickname (like change e-mail which is right under your e-mail address). It's the first set of optional settings ABOVE your user info: themes manager fonts manager upload/edit your desktop image CHANGE YOUR NICKNAME Take another look.
I had the same question and stumbled upon the answer. If you go to www.wincustomize.com (run by Stardock apparantely)they use the same log in as here. The bonus is that you can also edit your user info including e-mail, nickname, etc. Just log in with your Gal Civ info and click "edit account" at the top of the page. I verified that it worked because I changed my nickname to Joe M. at wincustomize and it appears as such here. :)
I'd have more confidence in Gamespot's integrity if I knew ONE thing: were they the site that rejected Tom Chick's review because it was too negative? I think Tom himself indicated that his review was posted on his own site because the mag/site (I don't think he specified) that "commissioned" his review rejected it. He's certainly written enough reviews for Gamespot to be in the running for the "big name" MOO3 review. It might also explain why Gamespot was later to the marke
Same question for me. I pre-ordered GalCiv during the beta ($44.95) but I am now interested in the full drengen net deal after trying out corporate machine. How about an upgrade to drengin net for $29.95 ($4.95 penalty for not opting for it in the first place). ;)
For some reason this thread reminds me of the Fox show "24". The following events take place during the first hour of March 26th, on the day of the Galactic Civilizations download. ;)
Downloading the full version of GalCiv is for pre-orders directly from Starkdock or with a drengin net subscription. You will be able to download the bonus pack to use with your retail version acquired form EB.
I think Brad mentioned something about the new SDC having a forum {and chat} function. This forum is hell on the eyes. It's the opposite of MOO3, the fonts are sharp as hell but too damn small. LOL
