As I understand it (and Steven Den Beste's article seems to substantiate it) the Apple OS is more or less wedded to their processor structure. So becoming a software company is not an immediate option. You CAN'T just put the OS on a different processor platform. As for migrating to AMD... if I were Microsoft I might tell AMD that if they were Apple-friendly the next generation of Windows would certainly take advantage of the architecture of the Intel chip. But perhaps not. At one time,

Logic would dictate that the heaviest downloaders would be folk that had purchased a Stardock product. In at least some cases, however, that has not been the case. We have had not one but several long threads from users of either a Warez version of a program or a shareware version complaining of being limited to downloading a mere 100Mb of files. Now, providing a Warez user with unlimited downloads of skins is as welcome to me as an obscene phonecall made with the charges reversed!

/me is off to Fish and Chips with StarmanDX! I have been reading about England all my life, but I have never been there. When I do go, I am going to spend all my time with skinners! So many of good my friends are there.

Grayhaze, we are talking about funny-named places, not people. (Although Milton Keynes works in both categories.) Now some names are funny on their own, others is context. We forgot to mention that Hell, Michigan indeed freezes over. Or that Manhattan is also in Kansas and Scotland is in Arkansas. Oi! You can also find a large number of places in America called "Jackass."

BoXXi, check out Genesis Selling England by the Pound. Indeed there is a song Firth of Fifth, so I was close. I have a "funny named place" story. In upstate New York there is a town named Poughkeepsie. It is pronounced Puh-kip-see. One day a father and son are driving through. The son, just learning to read, sounds it out as Pow-keep-sy. The father laughingly corrects his son. The son, however, displays the stubborness of youth and insists that he is right. Well, the father to prove his

I can access the wallpapers section just fine, so I don't think its a WinCustomize problem. Of your wallpapers, only OrangeFlux and Greyslide seem to have any comments (1 comment each.) Are you using SkinBrowser or your Internet browser to access the comments? Doesn't really seem to matter, I could get there either way.

Hey! Check this out: http://www.cnn.com/US/9605/30/geography.bee/ I am not the only one! BoXXi, didn't either Genesis or King Crimson or Robert Fripp have a song entitled the Firth of Forth?

Let me begin by saying that I admire all things British. I love your music- The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, The Who, et al. Your literature, from Charles Dickens and Jonathan Swift to Michael Moorcock and Neil Gaiman. Your humour (note the "u" spelling, trying for a little local colour as it were) from Peter Sellers and the "Goon Show" to "Monty Python." I even liked the late Benny Hill. Your cooking-- well, perhaps not ALL things British. But you do mak

AJCrowley turned me on to Neil Gaiman. The first book that I read was Good Omens, co-authored with Terry Pratchet. Since then I have read American Gods and NeverWhere, each very good and different. Migellito, I was a huge Moorcock fan (did you ever listen to Hawkwind?) but he lost me some time ago. Guy Gavriel Kay has been excellent, did you all know he was a contributing author on Silmarillion? His name is only mentioned once. Did anybody mention Charles De Lint? Good

This is a report of an actual news story. From Cox News Service: Southwest Airlines found out Wednesday that there's a hefty amount of anger over it's policy on accomodating larger travelers. The airline...advertently started a firestorm when it sent a memo to employees reiterating a rule that forces oversized customers to buy a second seat if they can't fit in the standard 183/4-inch-wide seats without squeezing their neighbors. End report. Now what I want to know is, will thi

IMHO, this is a last gasp effort by four failing companies trying to stay afloat. As Griffinme pointed out, they are not the major players in the market anymore. When I saw this post, I checked on the stock price of Caldera. It was a $0.83 yesterday, a fraction of its IPO price. This company has lost most of its value because it failed to offer a product that people were willing to buy (as in PAY for). Pity, because when they bought SCO I really thought they had something. I pr

Good work, guys. Paul, the tone of your emails was perfect, something difficult to achieve. You educated Gregor in a moderate, temperate manner. (Now the only question is, who are you and what have you done with the real Jafo!) Thanks to all.
