Hey guys, this is an excellent project! I've been thinking of a Star Trek UI mod, since I have experience with DesktopX, and I wouldnt mind being part of this project. I also have server space available if we want to have a central download place from which we can share designs and ideas. Would this be of use?

[support] What email address did you use? To be fair, you dont even need the CD key to install the game. Thats the reason that its trying to connect to the internet... it needs to check the key to make sure its valid. Just dont enter a CD key during the installation, and you should be fine. [/support]

Its a limitation in the game now... ships cannot see farther than that no matter what. Prevents your 'advantage' from becoming unfair.

WindowBlinds will (and currently is) supported by Vista. (or rather, Windowblinds supports that OS) There is nothing to indicate that Vista will be able to use the extensive visual styles that currently exist for WindowBlinds, so there will surely be benefits to using WindowBlinds with Vista.

Oh, you also do need some military, or the AI will find you to be a tasty snack and declare war. Yes... that is rather annoying. I find its best to chose a race to attack, and take over their planets as fast as possible, hopefully getting them to surrender their last couple to you. Just a strategy

I agree... making a shortcut to GalCiv2.exe is quicker anyways.
