/sigh I don't know what it was, but I tried a different starbase and it worked, so I tried the first one again and this time it worked just fine. Maybe there was a space I didn't notice or a letter missing in that long string of letters at the end. It still doesn't show up in the list of starbases to sub in, but I can live with that. You're absolutely right. They're unrelated issues. Thanks for the suggestion!

I seem to have somehow lost the ability to use any starbase design I have created. I was able to create starbases when I first started playing the game not too long ago, by creating them in the ship designer then assigning them to the fleet style when creating or editing a custom race. Now, while some of the starbase designs still show up in the ship designer, they are no longer listed as options to replace starbases when I use the race editor. I can see all the generic starbases just
Never mind, I found the solution. I found a post in the modding guide pinned in this forum where someone mentions his mods working after he verified his files with steam. I thought I'd try it, and my little mod is working perfectly now. So apparently, I have to verify my files every time I want to add a mod. Weird. My guess is there is some data file in the main directory that tracks mod data but isn't updating properly; it gets re-downloaded then updates when steam do
Don't you mean Documents\My Games\GC3Crusade\Mods\TempMod\Core? I have ship sets that I've downloaded and made both which are in the apropriate GC3Crusade folders, and those are working fine. It's just the mods I've tried that aren't working. I did try putting the GC3Crusade folder directly in Documents, but that didn't help. I also tried changing the name to GC3 Crusade, just in case it was suposed to have a space in it like it does in your post, but then it wasn't listing the s
I'll admit I'm new to modding galciv3, but I'm not new to modding and this looks like it should be pretty straight forward. The trouble is, I'm not seeing any change in game when I try to mod something. What I'm trying to do to sort of test the waters is set up a simple ship color scheme. I've tried this in two different ways. I have an appearance set up using the append method. When that didn't show up in game- I didn't really expect it too- I tried using a replacement for th
