Yesterdary, I found my first golden treasure chest with the legendary weapons. I was playing the Tyrant, so my starting hero couldn't use the weapons. No problem I thought, I'll find the two statues and get a melee hero. The first statue I find is the archer and the second the Mage, neither could use the weapons. I allied with the Dwarves and get a crossbowman! I had to look at the two amazing weapons in my inventory for the whole game. So, I started a new game as the Cleric, and my t

I've won with both the mages and the archer (normal, medium map), but the last fight was down to the wire. Every faction doesn't have to balanced, but a little more love for the mages would be nice, especially Elphaz who is by far the weakest.
One last thought, have faction specific high level spell or spells that can only be unlocked through the sovereign tree or a major quest. For example, the cleric faction (the weakest in my opinion), having a resurrect ability would be great and would fit with the cleric theme.
Brad, making the the minors more significant is a great idea. At the moment they're too weak and their cities are pushovers. I'd like to see them strong enough to keep their area of influence free of roaming armies and maybe build one reasonable mobile army. The second thing that would help is to allow you to defend the shards in your area of control. At the moment, I get notification that the shard is being attacked and my forts do nothing and I can't attack the force des
i got the game three days ago and have been playing more or less non-stop. I really like the concept and the gameplay. Little things like logistics, limited resources (lack of metal has killed me), the statues of lost heroes, and the large number of quests all raise the level of the game. Looking forward to the new patch.
i've played through five of the six factions at normal difficulty. I've won with me lee and archer heroes, but the Mage heroes are just too weak in the early game and too fragile in the late game. Their spells are also not as game changing as the melee characters late abilities. I would think their would be area of effect damage skills late in the experience tree.
in my last two games the quest and delivery locations for the Imperium weren't showing on the map. I'm not sure if this is because the areas were still unexplored, but even so they should show up just like the shard being attacked does.
in my last game both Liuetenants with their support units were in the same army, making it almost impossible to take them down. Is this a bug? If not it needs to be changed to only one Lieutenant per army.
Das123, Just wanted to let you know I've really enjoyed your let's plays and your walk throughs of the game mechanics. I picked up quite a bit and it's made teh games more enjoyable.
I was on the fence as well, looking for a new 4X strategy game with some depth. I had hoped Warlock Master of the Arcane might be the fit, but every review talked about the lack of an AI. I took the plunge on the other alternative, FE, and I've really enjoyed it so far. I can easily see it staying on my hard drive for a long while, especially if the're are expansions in the future.
Also a newb, but a couple of other points: -Be very careful where you place your first cities so they don't "pop" dedly monster groups when they expand. Having a dragon or huge elemental army freely roamingin your poorly defended territory can be a game ender. -Agree that bows are very useful if you have one or two front line trrops to defend them (early spears). Especially good for taking out casters that could take 2-3 turns for your melee troops to reach. You want have
Having played MoM from the day it was released (yes I'm that old), every version of Age of Wonders and HOMM, and Disciples, I can see some of the OP points but I think he discounts some of the improvements of FE. What I agree with : -In MoM, AOW, and to an extent in HOMM the faction leaders were drastically different which had a major impact on play style to include exclusive units and limitations that go far
Probably already posted, but I'm receiving a lot of I'll trade you 28 points of civilization research for 28 points of civilization research. basically trading the same research to each other. I may be wrong but I'd think you need to trade to different types of technology.
