First, I think this is a very good question, and one I'd like a more comprehensive answer on. Second, simply looking in the Task Manager in an NT kernel'd Windows OS (NT/2K/XP) isn't quite enough to determine resource usage. Memory isn't the only resource these GUI tools use.
