Managed to fix this after deleting folder "C:/Programdata/Ironclad Games" Then I reactivated the game and it runs fine now. No need to run exe files out of Steam now.

Ever since 1.34 patch nothing works. Game is unplayable on and outside Steam.

Having exactly the same problem. Can't launch the game AT ALL from Steam. Noticed I can download the game directly from my Stardsock account. Good. Won't bother with steam anymore.
