Accidentally* I buy up all ships while trading away technologies. Eventually the AI refuses to trade for anything when I want their scout ships though. They will still sell other ships for dirt cheap as well. I use the higher value ships to upgrade to faster constructors/colony ships. I usually build a few fast 4xcolony pod transporters to fill up tiny planets to a 20B population, so the reduced price of upgrading to a colony ship is nice, without having to build them a

The bad thing about impulse DRM is that if you get a program that checks for what changes between updates and copy them you can distribute the patch easily. I'm getting SS 2 in the near future, but they need to release a patch first. I used to buy games when they were new, but the frustration isn't worth it. Especially since when you buy it later you get wiki's and walkthroughs. Thanks for the heads up guys, didn't even know it came out yet!

Can anybody explain why going from a mining ship to a super basic cargo hull colony ship with nothing added costs way more to upgrade to than a template colony ship? I know I can abuse this by upgrading to colony ship one turn (for 60 credits) then moving to a resource and converting to a constructor for far cheaper than going from miner to bare bones constructor directly, plus you get the additional 1-2 additional movement from the colony ship/impulse tech. edit: forgot to ad

lol, came here to add the blockade comment. More of a funny way to gain the upper hand then true strategy, but still one of the ways. I've never thought of it actually, but will minor races turn production to higher percentages, and run into an eight ship on planet non production blockade and start turning production back into cash so I can trade them for more cash at a later date deal?

Most likely is pressing space to find the next unit with moves. The turn is already ended, there are units with unspent moves, you have the skip past autopilot units at destination unchecked would be my guess. You would find the button in the options tab. I had it before too until I figured this out.

How about since you have a fleet warp bubble ship with defenses, do you have any attack on there? If you do then I say drop all defenses from other ships and try to kill the enemy asap.

Hurr, been playing on version 1.97 the entire time. I just updated to 2.03 and see the new options. I also read through the changelogs (I've never had a crash so why patch?) and man, it wasn't a patch, it was an upgrade! Looking forward to seeing what's new. So set the game to scattered thanks for the tip :) edit: Actually a question from me. Will setting extreme planets to the highest setting increase overall planets or planet

A slider for number of extreme planets? I'd say with my games I play with abundant planets and abundant habitable planets and I get on average 2 planets per star system. If there is a slider that I've never seen before I'd like to see it. I usually play tight clusters abundant asteroids/anomalies/planets/habitable/stars. That's how I judge star systems (because of the influence/flip factor), is this what you see, or is it just a lot of planets? 5 per sta

Trying to switch back and forth between maps is annoying. I name my file QuickScout. I start a game and then after 10-20 rounds I'll switch research to sensors and life support then space ships equally at the edge of the map and just run them in lines across to the other edge of the map using cargo hulls loaded with sensors and support modules. I use a pen and paper and note the locations of all the starbase resources :)

Troll :) I only like having a few planets if I have treaties with everybody have snatched up all the resources and have everybody trying to keep the big man in the universe down with war. If not then I'm trying to buy colonies for techs throughout the game. PS I don't think the 2 planet players feel anything.

I think every 50 turns or something close to that the AI are supposed to re-evaluate their ships based on their enemies ships. I have no idea when this is calculated or if it only depends upon your ship design. I know that I usually just buy their ships in most games and build constructors so I don't notice much :)

Yor are blessed with an efficiency tech that only they get up to 45% boost in economy, and you can trade for stock markets/farms. So they get the best economy in the game. Plus they get charging stocks, so 4 of those for 80% taxes with 100% loyalty means no worrying about riots (as far as I can tell.) this works on every planet. stick on 4 stocks x 3 food each for a max pop of 20M with 80% approval boost and ship in colonists to tiny planets and you're set. Just keep those base 4 building

Hello, still new here. Does anybody have a step by step guide on how to maxing score in MV games? So far I've got as a start abundant everything, no asteroids. Then ARC for oxor as homestar, yor, and superability as 4 (super breeder). I go and edit civs and make em all super breeders with max cpu, 200 economy, and make em all evil/neatural/good. Next come game tricks. Swindle: I get ethics and rush buy the planet

Hello, first time posting here. I was wondering if there was a way to get more diplomacy techs through trade with the AI. I play insane difficulty with super slow research. Is there a way I can get a certain AI to research diplomacy and/or morale techs so I can trade with them? An Even better toss em my research treaty to speed the process. The problem is that they seem to all want to get military techs and just keep getting them without teching up diplo
