Thalans surrendered to me in my second game. I had an alliance with them, they had weak military but were better than my Drath anyways. Then out of the blue they surrrender to me because they are being overwhelmed by other races (as they put it) They beat the crap out of my Humans in the first game though.

I already lost as humans, trying to go for that influence win, beat down by an Altarian+that nasty insectoid race alliance.Couldn't protect myself against their forces, but was doing well influence wise.
Thank you! You made it a lot clearer. [e digicons][/e] Well, now we'll wait for Master Willy maybe he'll enlighten me a bit more on this.
I Influence is, however, generally not worthwhile to increase on a planetary basis, as the primary use of it is in flipping enemy worlds, and influence starbases accomplish that goal so much better (so long as they're close to the enemy planets-adjacent tiles is best). The secondary purpose, UP votes, is easily enough taken care of by either buying up everyone else's IP, or simply colonizing more planets.
I'd appreciate some help on this, please. When you build some planetary buildings that give you an increase of influence, say 10% or 15%, they give you 10% or 15% increase of what value. In other words what is the base value that those % give you a boost to?
