Surrender Makes you Powerful? I had all of my sectors all fully developed and my neighbors the torians surrendered to me completely putting me into the red and giving me dozens of undeveloped and undefended sectors. Surrendering nations can really screw you up. Also changed my play style and the Drath and Drengin are knocking each other out. Playstyle isn't the only factor but it is really important.

It's your play style that tends to matter if you hunker down and build a powerful military they will act one way if you ignore military for the most part and become an economic or technological giant they will act in another. in all my games the Torian and the Korath duke it out, yet when my younger brother plays the game even if it is from a prior saved of mine the Terran and the Yor dominate.

Multiple Weapons is the way to go yes overall you do less total damage, 30/30/30 as opposed to 120/0/0 or similar, but you are almost certain to do a a large amount of damage in two of the types because they don't add proper defenses in more than one category. I seldom have issues with enemy defenses and tend to kill the enemy forces faster using all three weapon types in equal amounts . but it really is up to what you feel comfortable with.
