Yeah, I've contacted stardock. I did a reinstall and checked file integrity. It comes up clean. Thanks for your help! I like to get advice from fellow gamers before contacting tech support.

Thanks for responding! Maybe I'm trying to access it incorrectly. I go to browse local files under the properties option. I open the Galciv2 folder, then the Twilight subfolder, then the Tools subfolder. I run the Galciv2 map editor as administrator. It opens up to a background with a huge patch of white and some small colored squares with a medium amount of black background. I can see the map grid as a blue outline, but that's it. It seems that I can place some objects, but I
Hi, If I should contact stardock or steam support please let me know how. Last year I was able to continue using the galciv2 twilight map editor by running as administrator. That is no longer available to me. This week, I ran as administrator, and it is still broken. I have the game both through GOG and through Steam. The map editor is broken on both platforms. Please advise Michael Hoggan
I had the same problem downloading from chrome (I have the ultimate edition if that matters). I just switched over to firefox and it worked fine! Thanks to maiden for the info about the map editor. I'll hold off playing since the mod community seems to have some updates to the patch that they want to make soon.
I have ultimate and everything seems to be working fine. My apologies if I jumped the gun last week. One question: have any changes been made to the map editor? I'm just wondering because I'm still using a custom map that I made with 2.04 Happy Holidays everybody!
Yeah, I don"t have it via Steam either. My account in the stardock store only gives me the 2.04 files.
I can't figure out how to download the update, please advise.
Hello everyone! As far as I can tell, the number of galactic resources (morale...etc) is constant for each map size. For the largest map I count 32 resources. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks a lot! Will do!
I bought the galciv2 ultimate edition (in physical CD form) a few years back. The map editor was crashing on me a lot recently, so I uninstalled it using the uninstall program feature on my computer's control panel section.. After I reinstalled it, I wasn't able to use the update button in the program menu. I was told by the gamestop app that opened up that I needed to register the game. However, I couldn't find a way to do this. I still have the manual with it's produ
thanks! I'll just run it through more times.
I am playing on a custom made tiny map with 8 planets. Each faction controls 4 at start. All the planets are level 26. I've started the game a few dozen times, but I still can't get precursor mines or libraries (the +700% bonuses) on any of my faction's planets. Is a certain map size/# of factions required for these bonuses? Note: I have seen all the +100% and +300% bonuses on my planets.
Good to know. That should do it.
May I assume the way the other empires get them is from random events?
Excellent! thanks for the info. Sorry for not looking through earlier threads before asking. I'm playing the ultimate edition, so I have power plants. You've confirmed what I suspected about manufacturing and research. The information about the political capitol is very helpful, since I have a morale bonus tile on my homeworld in the game I am currently playing.
I was just wondering what would happen if you put a manufacturing capital on a tile that gave a manufacturing bonus. I assume the answer is the same for a research capital (or research coordinator) on a research bonus tile or a political capital on an influence bonus tile. (please let me know if I am incorrect). i.e. can I get a mammoth manufacturing boost by building a manufacturing capital on a precursor mine (700% bonus) tile? I am using the latest (the dec 2011)
Thanks for the responses, people! I was just wondering if a particular race had a "racial" technology" that gave better ship weapons and defenses than those available with a "maxed out" Terran tech tree. I could have phrased my title better (sorry!) So, no Dread Lord ships (not surprised). Is there any way to get precursor rangers? Thanks for the note about "war of the gods". I'll check it out.
I was wondering which race had the most powerful starships. I was also wondering if Terrans could trade or buy technologies from this other race to make Terran starships more powerful. I remember in one of the scenarios I played in the original game that the Terrans were able to acquire the technology (from the Arceans) for a huge cannon to defend planets with. That cannon isn't available to Terrans in the regular games that I have played. Is it perhaps one of the alignment t
