Saw those, but when I used the Intel update tool they advised I use the OEMs due to potential compatability problems. I'll give the Intel ones a shot...can always revert if problem. One problem/ question: Under MyComputer/System properties/general, I have "Windows XP Tablet edition" as the OS, but under your Debug.err it has Windows XP Professional 5.1. Just got Galactic Civ II ultimate edition, but have been having some Graphics problems with the Selected Object Context Area. First problem noted is that the text in the Context Area is garbled. It appears that text is being overwritten without erasing prior text data, but I'm not sure that's the whole story as the overwriting can occur on other data screens.
