CBM isnt considered to be the balance mod it once was. Please dont be swayed by the name. About half of the games on Shrapnel use it. In one other forum its alittle bit more than half (the home forum for that mod so that makes sense). In 4 other Dom3 forums I know of its known but hardly used at all. Unless you know the changes it makes and you like it, there isnt much reason to go with it. In general I would say to get tired of vanilla before doing much with the mods. It will extend the life

the game itself (Dom3) defines a small map (small game) as 10 provs per player, Medium as 15/player, and a large game as 20/player
There are many ways to address vets in a noob game. You could tell them who to play such as Pangaea or Caelum (who dont tend to do well unless its a large map). Or team games where each vet must team with 1 or 2 newbies. Its become either learn to play with Vanilla OR learn to play with CBM because its too confusing to try and do both. I was wondering how the
How newb do you want it? The easiest for new players would be a map that came with the game (or at least the map image), no mods, and direct connect (instead of pbem or some other method). But if you are running the game then its up to you.

Its the game itself. Im not always sure why they are on the list. I just know that they are. Probably because most of them have extensive setup options and in-game variatio
