In my last game I noticed something strange. This is the situation: Me, custom race. I am the most powerfull civ, Korkx are second. I have an alliance with every other race, except with the Korkx and the Yor so I’m going for the diplomatic victory. With the Yor I have trade relations and their demeanor towards me is ‘warm’. With the Korkx I’m at war. This is the only war at the moment as all other races have trade relations with each other. Since it’s the endgame

Why can’t I spend 100% on all three??? So you want to spend 300% of your income? (If you want to drain your treasury that fast you can always buy some ships/upgrades/buildings) Wouldn't that be something like economical hara-kiri? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddl

No offence but from a realistic point of view, your capital could be everywhere but in northern America. It’s a simple fact that, given enough time, civilizations come and go. They come to power, reach their peak and diminish. That’s the way it has always been, and always will be. In the timeframe depicted in the game the American civilization (one h3ll of a Paradox) will probably be long gone. But given the fact that most people w

You are so right, you know. It’s only that this has been mentioned quit a few times before…. At this point, large and huge ships are not a viable option. They only have role-playing value. I myself never build large or huge ships any more. Only small ones in the beginning and medium ones later on. Medium not for effectiveness or strength, but for said role playing reasons. I feel that it would be a good thing to limit the ava

And I think that the ROI for tactical battle will be much more smaller than the ROI for implementing a full multiplayer aspect. Frankly, no, I don’t think so. We’re talking about a TBS game here. You know, the kind of game that most of the time takes huge amounts of time to complete a single map… I fear that only a very small group o

OK BoogieBac, I started a new game. I will continue with it until I have researched trade, so I can have a colony, constructor and freigter desigen. Then il'll start a new game and see if the new designs show up. I can tell you right now that I've had problems with 1.0x designs in normal 1.1 games, but they did show up in 1.1 'battle of the gods'. I'll keep you informed

Hey CariElf , thanks for the response! I just came home and quickly checked my ships folder. And hey... you're right (of course you are ), they've become xml's!!! *blushes with shame* I didn't check on them since the 1.1 beta. The problem remains though. I'll take a look and see if I can find something. If not (probably) i'll mail you

I suppose that empty hulls means only hull + extras Indeed, only hull and eyecandy. No engines, no weapons, no nothing. As for designs made in the first turn: always the same starting techs (always the same costum race, remember). Anyways, thanks for the input guys!

Bovine, you are right. It must be something along those lines. I'll have to open the individual shipclass files and take a look at the tech requirements in there. Maybe that will give me some clues. Still, when (for example) i'm researching medium hulls, the tech description in the research screen lists for example the "bigfatfreighter" as a ship that will be available with the new tech. Only once the tech is researched, bigfatfre

Darth Griffin, Yes, the files are where they are supposed to be. The prefs.ini thing is new to me. I can't check it out right now, but I will as soon as I get home. Thanks for the hint! *crosses fingers* Still, now that I think about it: it's the randomness that puzzles me most.... The freighter, colony ship and constructor I mentioned in my first post were created in the same game turn! One of them is lost while t

What you are experiecning is strange. Not really. There are (many?) others experiencing the same thing. Here’s one example that didn’t receive a single answer…. https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=106355 Could this be the reason why there aren’t all that much downloadabl

Wrong. There are some techs that give new new hulls in category you already have. OK, You have a point there. But that doesn't apply for most of the designs i'm talking about. And certainly not for the designs of freigters, colony ships and constructors. Most of those designs I made right at the

BTW, I suppose that you are using a race that have the same hull type than the design you have made Well, that depends... I always use the same custom race with the human style set (only different in colour). But like mentioned above: in a battle of the gods game (with the humans obvi

non-metaverse games Oh, and I forgot.... all ships I ever created do show up...... in every 'battle of the gods' game I start. so it must be a tech related bug then? I don't get it. It happens with empty hulls as well as with fully outfitted ships, and on a random basis. Some (the vast minority) show up, most don't.

Ok, during the game before my last I designed a new constructor, colony ship, freighter, one tiny hull, two medium hull ships and two large hull ships. All designs were ‘empty hulls’ so tech requirements should only be the hull size, right? After designing the empty hulls I used these throughout my game to create several ships per base design as new techs became available. All these new designs took a considerable amount of time to create. So

Aerion Istari, that's exactly my point. And not only with empty hulls. Fully equiped or empty makes no difference. When I look in the ships directory the .shipclass and .shipcfg files are there. They just won't show up in the game. There's one variable I thought of: I'm playing with a different collor scheme. But........ nah! Can't be <
