if a Major is engaged in a war versus a Minor civ then that proposal doesn't end this war? Or are only Minor-vs-Minor wars unaffected?
Nope. Iconian vs. Carinoid continues on ad infinitum . Minor v. minor wars are so rare I've never seen it happen. Also never seen the "can't attack minors" event. [As an aside, in your FW mod the minors are much tougher yet much juicier. I

One thing I didn't mention about Thalans. They build their own improvements now. They used to trade for alien production techs to get around the high maintenance. Eventually most of their facilities are alien, making the whole concept of a Thalan tech tree kinda pointless. So far I like what you've done. Quoting DMF, reply 98 </d

How are you using ? It used to be the universal prerequisite for Massive Hulls, but your new description implies that it exists to convey the Hyperion Shipyard project. Is the split between hull size and hull quality branches, breaking the relation with Massive hulls makes sense. Do all races have access to Hyperion Shipyard and Fort. III through Massive Hull Building? Do all races have a follow-on hull quality tech?

Maiden, I'm starting to go through TechTree.xml. Did you base yours on the work I did for CU? Some of the words look awfully familiar. Edit : Never mind. I found the one I submitted. It appears that you used a form of the original CU texts. On re-reading, I did good work. [pats self on back] This is gonna take a while. If you have changes to the tech tree, please copy them to me. I'll let you know w

Oh, and Drones. Drones have a base HP of 1. Barring mods, if a weapon rated 10 fires at a pack of 10 drones, shouldn't it kill them all? (while probably dying in the process) I understand the purpose of the Fleet Carrier name, but it is just a bubble ship. We'll have to discuss the name...

No idea on Karma. How is the anomaly "You receive +n on all three weapon/defense types" expressed? I got a couple of those, but on a ship with e.g. a single Laser the Beam rating is still 1. Applied directly in combat, thus not visible? Speed ro0lz! With good speed and good defense/HPs you don't need the latest and greatest weapons - something the AIs don't comprehend. In this game, all the Minors charged up the Mass Driver branch, and the Altar

Dear Catburglar, I see the other designs in the initial shipyard, but not the Colonyship 500. AFAICT the AIs don't have a problem finding colony ships to build. I'll wait until you post the update before I start poking on it. And before I start on the text. Love the new building icons! Tech trees are quite different, but make sense. I did have a suggestion but forgot what it is. Now, assuming Tech Victory is enabled, The Terran needs to re

Delaying starport construction. Most interesting. This is very good! I've only played 6 months with two opposing majors, so still a lot to discover. (And yes the English needs a buff in some places. [e digicons]^_^[/e] ) Is there supposed to be an initial colony ship design? I had to make one in the shipyard. (Terran)

Well, WoW screwed me. They suddenly stopped "supporting" Vista and put some code in the startup that refuses to even run on it. I've moved to Win7, but now my video driver crashes. (It also like to lock up in the GCII Shipyard...) GCIII runs, but I haven't been able to get into it. So now I'm back with good ole GCII, playing 2.22. (There's a bug: the first paragraph description for Federation on the Government & Ethics screen is "string not found".)<

It's probably more that the AI is set to "want" to manipulate others. The Terran (Super Diplomat) "can", but that is up the player. An AI Terran probably won't. In general, the mechanisms behind the Super Abilities is not well understood.

This is not a "mod" per se . It is supposed to be basis of the next release of GCII, as 2.20 was the packaging of a previous version of the Community Update mod. It is now up to Stardock to allocate the resources needed to validate and integrate this drop. I supposed they'll get to it eventually. So until they do, with the exception of bug fixes it is complete. Meanwhile we kinda got sidetracked. I discovered World of Warships and I think Maiden66

Sorry not to have replied here. I discovered World of Warships and haven't played GC much at all this year. I'll get back to it eventually.

You have to correlate to Morale. If Morale falls below a certain point (40%), the population will be too depressed to breed. Also, I think Planet Quality factors into the growth rate and max pop, but I don't remember how.
Is here a Neutral- or Good-aligned player that actually uses Military Starbases and attaches the military ship-support modules? These currently do still cost 500 bcs each, a maxed-out SB demands perhaps around ~7000bcs, ofc not counting the constructor-costs which may be around 2000 production spend. That seems to be completely out of line. For that amount of money/prod I could have several state-of-the-art warships. Given that S

There is an mode where normally non-printing characters are displayed. View->Show Symbol...But then you have to be able to spot them manually. Properly speaking, though, Å in not a non-printing character and N++ doesn't highlight it when I put it in explicitly. This leads me to believe that the original "bad character" was not Å itself but something that displays as it. It clearly wasn't there (visually) when I opened the file and looked at it.

Mm.. the one I remember is an Angstrom sign (cap A with circle above) smack in the middle of Xeno Mysticism. Right after "split between the Dread Lords and the Arnor." Do you see it too?

2,020 Replies 6,638,908 Views

Playing Atarian with 6.2. Did a to get all tech and selected 'Good' alignment. In the tech tree I get 'Neutral Shipping' overlapping Way of the Arnor. Can't select WA; always get NS. Restarted and now I can't select Neutral Shipping; always get WA. I shouldn't have Neutral Shipping at all. Also a couple of odd characters in the text I've looked at. I don't see a special ch

In these cases, the MMRs are roughly equivalent. #1 vs. #2, #3 vs. #4. If one were obviously weaker, then the stronger would be easier to convince to attack. Maybe after the colony rush, the AI just figures that war with someone is the next phase. I judge how easy they are to convince but how much money it takes. IIRC, Drengin went after the (stronger?) Arcaean for 1600 bc. Atarian or Yor (forget which did the attacking) for around 2000.

2,020 Replies 6,638,908 Views

I don't know if this comes under the heading of tech trading, but early on Terran was pretty weak and kept getting hated on by those you might not expect it from (fellow Neutral Arcaean and paladin Altarian). So I talked the Drengin and Yor into attacking them. It was too easy. Later when I attacked Altarian, Torian and Iconian wanted to help them so I got them to fight each other. Again, way easy (but by that time I had pretty good diplo bonus). Doubtful t

As Terran I built the Bazaar only recently, traded for DiploTranslators more than 2 years in, and am not playing with Super Abilities. None of this, of course, affects how the AIs trade among themselves. Any particular race you'd like to see played in the next test?

2,020 Replies 6,638,908 Views

I know Notepad++ automates commenting of tag blocks, but what did you find? I really don't know what to say about TechTrading. As you know I found trading very difficult as Drengin. But now as Terran, without an overwhelming advantage in Diplomacy, it is pretty easy, and the AIs are doing a lot of trading among themselves - more than I remember seeing. Even the Diplo-deprived Thalan traded for standard factories so I've had to force him
- Alot of files do still hold alot of redundant code. Removing that may not change the play of the game itself but will reduce RAM load a bit.
You thinking of GC2Converstaions? (What else?) Ideally there wouldn't be redundancies; all conversation points would be distinct. But that would take a lot of effort. (As would making some of the conversations a little less freekin' ambiguous
