You could try matching your monitors resolution to what you changed it to. I also believe that there is a config file somewhere in the galciv folder that you could edit to change it. As to where that config file is, you'll have to wait for someone else here to help you. This probably happened because the resolution you chose can't be matched by your monitor.

You can click the planet in question and on the right hand side of the HUD next to the 'speak to' button should be a 'place spy' button.
Yeah, I don't know much about making games but it seems like in light of the argument against multiplayer for GalCiv II, A LAN mode would be pretty awesome. Although I'm sure there would be complications, but just the thought of being able to chill with 2-3 of your buddies, or hell even one other, and trying to conquer the known universe together or competitively would be pretty fun.
Basic Strat guide I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure the original poster doesn't quite care about a ZYW yet. If he's still checking this thread, that link might help him.

Spread it out, if you notice your treasury go in to the deficit spending it is alright, but don't let it get out of hand. If it gets to bad lessen military production and turn down overal production. Hello, I'm new to the forums, but not new to the GalCiv II universe. I'm absolutely in love with the game, one of the best PC games I've ever played. (sometimes I wish it could be ported onto the PSP, DS, or an iPod, but meh) Now to my query, I've tried installing the Ultimate edition on my thumb drive so I can play it at work/school (that's right, I get paid to conquer the galaxy :)). It works if I launch from the individual game .exe, but not from the GC2 launcher
