You can safely ignore the warning, the game'll run fine. (I used to play the game on Windows Server 2008 R2 RC, the server version of 7, and the game ran fine despite the warning. BTW the warning's gone now that I've upgrade to build 7264 of Windows 7.)

I just hit this bug a few minutes ago as well. I was upgrading a ship and after closing the upgrade screen, the turn button was gone. Luckily there was a recent autosave. An unsettling bug, though. (I should have tested whether saving and reloading AFTER losing the button causes it to reappear, but didn't think of that at the time.)
Same question/problem as the OP here. I'm on my third playthrough of this game and have received Precursor Rangers on the first and third playthrough. Both times, they were vastly superior to anything else around. The current one has attack ratings 112/78/72, defense 21/24/34, 117 HP. My opponents ships look something like 0/0/8, 4/0/1, 66 HP (my own are 10/0/0 0/0/10, 39 HP). The Precursor ship seems invicible or at least way overpowered in this context. (Nobody could touch it on the first p
Okay, so this is actually a Windows 7 (RC, build 7100) bug: Link 1 Link 2
This deserves a bump; Windows 7 (and Server 2008 R2, which I'm running the RC of) have their RTM next month. I get the same message as OP. Yet the game runs fine. So it just seems like the driver detection is somewhat flawed (and the acceleration warning is an empty threat?).
