Author's note: So GeneralEtrius has informed that he would like to include my AAR in his compilation. I'm honored that this story, late as it comes, would be considered. I decided to put it together into a word document and I noticed that it doesn't really flow that nicely because each post is somewhat its own little scene. I think that works on the forum since whoever is reading this is probably reading each new post as it comes out, but if it is put all together, I do

Intercollective Communications Priority Report (Interstellar Communications Collective): War declaration issued to Scottlingas premier. *end report* 2200, April 12, 2179, near Scottlingas III "Alright, boys, we're gonna run this till we get it right," said Blue Leader to his two wing mates. "I'm deploying drones. They've been programmed to simulate our latest recordings of Yor training maneuvers. Stay with me no matter what happens and keep your

Krindar i'Agohl emerged from his shuttle leading his guards and Kralax wheeled about to walk beside him aboard the Capital Venture . "I have a surprise for you, Krindar," said Kralax. The Korath leader made a snuffing sound. "Well, will you tell or show?" asked Krindar i'Agohl. Kralax laughed softly, "This you will have to see." Kralax and Krindar arrived at one of the Korx flagship's meeting rooms. As they entered, N1 rose to meet them. The First of the Korath

Sorry for the length between posts. I almost had this installment finished twice when, each time, firefox deemed it wise to crash on me. Weird, since those two times have been the only times this summer. This post is a little shorter than I wanted it because of that, just hoping to finally get something new up! On we go. Cigar smoke curled around the bearded face of Rear Admiral Volonsky as he sat alone in his quarters. He almost chuckled to himself at the irony of the

Author's note: all too human, mambaman. After waiting several hours, Archknight Rulyo was relieved to see Queen Mue and N1 emerge from the reception room. Queen Mue had a big smile on her face as she bowed to the machine before it clanked off down the hall to its shuttle. "I take it things went well?" asked Rulyo. "Yes, we've agreed to begin interstellar trading on a limited basis. They can manufacture goods very cheaply, an

Author's note: School's out, and I should be able to write more regularly now. And now, the Queen meets N1. The Queen's Maiden slipped out of hyperspace in quite literally the middle of nowhere. X1, the Yor flagship, hung low on the Maiden's viewing screen, its sleek lines ending in sharp points. The Queen stood on the bridge, flanked by Archknight Rulyo and an escort of royal guards. "Hail them," said Archknight Rulyo. N1 appeared on the viewing screen against a backdr

Two answers for you. The short one is just trying to answer your question directly, the second explaining what I do/when I do it with the Yor. I usually play TA on painful with immense galaxies. Short answer: I usually try to get good relations with a couple of the weaker evil races (who are cowed by my military). Mostly I'm going for a big military and I expect to be at war with most of the galaxy, since I start wiping out minors and whoever is close to me. I focus pre

Dear readers, Just wanted to let you know that I will return, but this semester has been busier than I expected. Hence, my writing time has been chewed up. I'm hoping to squeeze in some updates in a few weeks (its midterm time here), but I won't have to time to do steady work on the story until May. Thank you for your patience and I so very much look forward to exploring this world further with you. God bless, BKam144 &nbs

I used to struggle with this problem a lot, always trying to have the best ships before I'd even think about going to war. Someone already mentioned this, just switching production to the new type of ship as soon as it is available. That is what I do too. The older ships are always on the front lines already being whittled down (although I'm usually pretty good about not losing ships; just keep rotating ships with full hp into the fray and let damaged ones heal if you can). I don't upgrade un

I am running GalCiv2 on my Macbook Pro; it is installed on my Windows XP partition (I used bootcamp to partition my harddrive so that I can use the Mac OS for my school work and running photo/movie programs and I use XP for playing videogames). Unfortunately, the Mac keyboard doesn't have a printscreen button so I don't know how I can take screenshots ingame when I'm playing. Does anyone know how I could take screenshots using the Macbook Pro keyboard?

If I build something like the restaurant of eternity on an influence bonus tile, does that enhance the civ-wide bonus to influence that the building gives? Does it give any sort of bonus if not?

"May a cuddle be your guide!? I'm sorry Queen, but your late mother... she would never... you want to be in the same ROOM as a Yor? And what on Altaria will you accomplish by that? These things are no Altarians! They're as cold as Litsofris! A cuddle... philosophy won't help you with these machines!" Archknight Arman Rulyo trembled visibly, his walking staff shaking and making shuffling noises on the palace floor. He was dressed in uniform as always, the black background for his royal blue ve

Author's Notes: - I'm using a Macbook Pro with Windows XP bootcamped to play Galactic Civ 2. Is there a way to take screenshots? There is not a printscreen button on the Mac keyboard. - I tried to describe the galaxy I'm playing in and I did a poor job of it. The galaxy is divided into 3 quadrants by a series of star clusters that form a capital T, the top of which is the clusters dividing the galaxy in two mentioned in the last post. In the left crook of the T

Intercollective Communications Priority Report (Overmind Collective): First contact has been made with Terran Alliance. Their Collectives are filled with a single race, physically fragile, creative and curious, have the usual organic mental deficiencies (difficulty thinking as a collective, fixated on individual perspectives; access Organic Concepts of Self Report for more information). Young race, had space flight for less than 300 years. Have developed revolutionary n

*note to readers* I am probably going to be very busy for the next couple of months until I finish the semester. This means that updates will probably not happen frequently, but I'm trying to make them worthwhile additions. So hopefully they will be longer posts and worth the wait. Enjoy. As the Intercollective transport headed towards the center of the city, a number of tall, narrow buildings, identical in shape and size, stood out to the captain. <

I would like to use the Dread Lord ship style with a custom race. How can I select their ship style? Also, is it possible for me to add new templates to the dread lords without erasing the ones they already have? I'd like to add Shadow looking ships from B5 to their ship style.

Hello readers, I apologize in advance that updates may be a little slow until next week. I am a college student and I'm currently buried under homework and midterms. Hope you're enjoying the story so far.

"This is the Intercollective Transport," stated N1 as the lev tug pulled up to a long, gray lev train. "They run at regular intervals to physically unite us." Hundreds of Yor units were lined up as the doors to the transport opened, and the units uniformly drove on to the lev train. "You look quite different from the other Yor," said Ambassador Volonsky, noticing that the other Yor were moving on wheels and had many long arms. "Correct. Each Yor u

When Gaia pierced Iconia's cloud cover, a massive city sprawled beneath them. Unlike human cities, it did not light the night sky; the civilization capital gave off a dull glow sprinkled with points of bright lights and orbs. There seemed to be an underlying order to it all: the lev trains and spacecraft all departed at regular intervals and many of the lights seemed to pulse with a regular beat. Iconia wasn't the most comfortable environment for humans. The oxygen levels were liveable but le

Hello to anyone who bothers to read my AAR. This is my first shot at it. I'm really interested in some of the civilizations in Gal Civ 2, especially the Yor, Krynn, and the Korx. Specifically, how would a sentient race of robots be different from organic life? How would the Krynn effectively influence people to join their civ/religion? How would they accomadate the inevitable variety of beliefs and practices that would emerge? How would they unify their religion despite their diversity? So I

Ok, sorry that I started a new post, this is supposed to go under my 1st post, "Toward a synthetic unity". I didn't realize I was opening a new thread. So if someone can tell me how to move this thread under my other thread and/or delete this one entirely, that'd be cool. :)

Listening Post 19 to Intercollective Communications Unit S17809 report: Unidentified object emerging from hyperspace. On course to Iconia. Organic life forms detected. Estimated 64% chance vessel is a species not encountered before. No apparent armament. Recommend directing vessel to Iconia. Recommend N1 greets vessel (advantage for using N1: all other life forms encountered are humaniod; N1 our most humanoid looking unit; high chance N1's appearance will be relevant at first contact)

October 22, 2177 Captain's Log, TA Gaia: We are making the final jump to Yor space in 1 hour. Our navigator has had difficulty plotting a course through hyperspace as we've neared Yor and the crew is noticeably nervous. There have been an increasing number of mechanical problems in the past day across the ship. We've all heard the stories from the Iconians. I think the crew just needs to be reminded of how our other encounters went: the Drengin, Korath, and other "evil" races
