Start-> Run -> then type 'dxdiag' -> OK -> Next Page -> Next Page -> Click Disable next to DirectDraw Acceleration -> Start your game and enjoy! This method works for me and it appears you'll have to do this if you have an Nvidia card. It would be nice to have an automatic fix for this but oh well. It only cost me 99 cents. I only bought it because I remember enjoying the demo a few years back. Oh and once you're done be sure

Well after a bit of back and forth information gathering with stardocks tech support (nice people, great service) it seems they can not find the problem. Therefore I will be uninstalling GalCiv I and getting my refund. I'm sad that I can't play the game, but satisfied with the good customer support.

Yep, Mine won't run at all. Task Manager shows it running though. I definitely meet the requirements.
