One more Q - I line my Cap. Ship in the middle of the battle. It stays there for a bit then heads of after a flak or siege ship across the map. How do I keep ships inplace where I put them?

I'm playing TEC till I get the game down better. I'm reading alot about Mirco-ing your Cap. Ships. What exactly does that mean and when should you do it? TY Mucho
Just got the game and have some trouble getting started. To unlock the Ship Cruisers, I need 5 weapons labs. All I've been able to build is 4. I've used the grant additonal slots buttons and they are now greyed out. How do I get the ablility to build the 5th lab? And the first planet I found needs artic research - Can't do the research because I'm out of slots. What am I missing? TY Mucho. <
