I still find it odd a bit. In my recent game AI players (all of them on Intelligent level) are fighting each other long time with nothing but ships being equiped with missile guns. None of AI players use missile defense or try another weapon type.

I understand. However one of GC2's biggest features was its strong and smart AI. In addition, there is a slider on game setup screen to adjust how much CPU power AI should use, but I don't know, whether this feature has a real effect on AI playing. So, it was a bit strange for me that a smart, advanced AI couldn't play but being hooked on different bonuses.
I don't like to see AI players having significant bonuses even on Bright or Intelligent level. They can colonize very quickly, they have more credits and higher approval level in the same time than me while I have to fight a constant negative net income with low approval rate and fewer colonies already at the beginning of the game. I noticed the slider on opponents form in the game setup wizard which sets their ability bonuses +50% (Advanced) in these levels. But when I set the diffi
I noticed this, too. Having strong defence doesn't make your ships "survivable" as more as you would think. Defend values are rolled between 0 and shild max (calculated like mentioned above), so when your opponent has 12 attack and you have 4 defence value, you may get 10-12 damages several times, too. Defences might be calculated in a different way to give it more significance.
Thanks. I thought about it a bit more, and I concluded I should not complain about it, weapons are equivalent, it doesn't matter which weapons AI prefers.
Why do all of AI opponents focus on one weapon type? In my two games (with bright and intelligent AI levels) all of my opponents just built ships with a certain weapon type, mass drivers in firts game and missiles in second one. And none of them wanted to react to my beam weapons. I would expect more variety.
Quoting dnzrx, reply 1It occurs one every approx. 52 turns (I think) I will need to research this a bit. Twice yearly, actually, starting the week after you change government (IIRC). And GC2 years are only 48 weeks, not 52. That's correct, it only matters during the turn before the election, which is rather a shame since it's hardly realistic.
Twice
Speaking of said defenceless ships, I build them early in the game so when I do get weapons tech, I can just upgrade them. Poof: instant military!
I don't think it would be cheaper, but is it faster?
Or a military startbase being placed close to the planet can give some attack values to these ships with appropriate modules on it, but I don't remember seeing any.
Do senate elections occur fixed or random periodically? The latter one would make it more reasonable to keep an approval level high enough during a game, since this value does matter only in the turn of election.
What's the point of building 'defender' ships on planets with zero attack and defend values, what AI sometimes does?
As I see I don't need keep my spies on a civ. So I can reach advanced level on every civs with 4 spies only. Until I have ADVANCED level on a civ I can't see their starbase details. If I double click on one of their starbase, I get a message about that. However if I only select the starbase and then click on info button, the detail window opens. This may be a glitch, I think.
Some suggestions to UI. I think this game needs improvements in this area, if any, right now. Ship and planet list. 1. Ship and planet in the list should be selected when one of them is selected on the main map. 2. These windows should be on top after quitting another window until player close them (these windows should be work similar to SoaSE empire tree). Tooltips. 3. There should be more detailed tooltips all aroun
Ok, I understand all. Thanks your help and guesses. And sorry for mistakes in my english.
Hi, I'm a bit confused about the new espionage system, exactly the new race-wide espionage system. It seems to be very easy to spy. I spend a small amount of money for spies, and once I get a new one, I place it on a race. So, in a nearly short time I can reach a high level in espionage by some races, without any counter espionage from the targets. And I don't find any real advantage in using the old style spying: placing spies on the planets. And what can make a spy be
Well, the "disappearing starbases" effect is here again. And I got the "Invalid call" crash again, however I installed the v1.92 alpha patch.
A guy from the Stardock suggested me to send my problem to . He didn't mention the one-way communication there :) I installed the SmartException, too, but it could get the CTD of the game only once. Since this it doesn't seem to work (I think it must be my mistake, I will look after it). And about the ALT+TAB: I get the CTD when I'm going back to the game, not by switching to the desktop. But I will try it. Thank you.

Hi, I have some relevant graphical problems since TA has been installed. I started a topic about it (in a wrong forum, I know, sorry), and I wrote some mails to , but I didn't get any answer nor help yet (this means for more than a month). For the first time I experienced that some starbases disappeared completly from the game. Then I usually get a big framerate drop by some ships (nearly 5-7 FPS) until I scroll the camera taking these out of the field of vision. Th
I posted a more detailed message with saved games and error report to the given support mail a week ago, but I haven't got any reply. I hope, you got it. Oh, and the SmartException couldn't realize now the crashes of the game with "Invalid call" message.
OK, I will follow your instructions by my next game. Thank you for your attention and help.
Hi, I bought the expansion (I installed the v1.91, too) and I've played a round with it. I'm a bit sad, because I experienced some bugs. 1. There may be some memory leaks, because after loading the game, I often see lags in different parts of the game. In most cases a duplicated ALT+Tab helped to resolve it, but in the last some cases I've got an "Invalid call" error message during this action and the game flown out. 2. The combat viewer is flickering and flashing in certain
If I Install the Twilight of the Arnor, will I be able to play the old campaigns, too?
Thank you all. It is sad, that the senate, the strengths of parties have no influence to the government. I will read the describtions about the combat system, thanks the tips.
Sorry, my english is not so good, but I hope, that my post is understandable.
