I first posted in these forums two years ago, right after I placed my order online for the entire GalCiv2 trilogy, about one month before TotA was released. GalCiv2 has resided on my laptop ever since, and while I haven't played it much as of late, it has been a constant travel companion and has provided countless hours of enjoyment during my light-rail commute to and from work, and during a few trips away from home. Change happens, of course, and I no longer ride the train to

** UPDATE **: Hey folks, I solved my own problem, I'll leave this post here in case it might help someone else. You can read what my problem was below, here's what I did to fix it: Went to NVIDIA control panel and selected app-specific 3D settings. For some reason, "Threaded Optimization" was set to "On." Set it to "Auto", now everything is fine. Howdy Folks, Well, I just built a new computer system and was looking forward to playing GalCiv2, but it doesn't work on m

Okay, so I've been playing the game for a week now, and here is something unusual that I'm seeing (I've read the manual, checked the forums, and checked the Wiki and couldn't find anything specific about this...): It seems to me that SOMETIMES the technological advances that I make are only made available to the planet that did the research. As someone who just installed Stardock and GalCiv2 within the past 24 hours, I do have to agree with some of the criticisms of Stardock's download/install procedures. Unfortunately, m

Thanks to all of you for welcoming me into the GalCiv community. I've had the game installed and running for all of a couple of hours, so I can't say much about the gameplay, although it looks quite impressive. Also, kudos to the game designers for making the game run as well as it does on any number of platforms. My laptop has a discreet video card with only 64Mb of dedicated memory, yet the game looks absolutely stellar. The only concession I made was to turn off anti-aliasing. <b

Greetings! The better part of my "surfing time" over the past 10 days has been spent doing a lot of research on GalCiv II. As a self-proclaimed hardcore TBS gamer going back to the days of "Empire" on the PC and "M.U.L.E." on my Atari 800 (which still runs, thank you very much), GalCiv II has been somewhere on my radar ever since I started hearing about it and the awards it's garnered over the past couple of years.
