There, put the Porsche picture up. :) And ltos of new pics.

Please post hardware info so we can look into it.
do I have to download this from SC? Yes.
Dark Avatar updates will be through Stardock Central. While I fully confess that Stardock Central was rough when it first came out in 2003, it's come a long way in 4 years. Stardock Central can download a file and archive it to be moved to a non-Internet based connection. While there may be stand-alone updates to Dark Avatar, they would likely come when we are near the end of the update cycle since they require substantial more effort.
No. It should have definitely not made that mistake. I'll have to check the Drath AI. It sounds like a bug. I've certainly never seen it do that though.
I agree. I have some ideas on this area but it's a tricky thing because we want to have an AI that will let you get away with it (otherwise, the game always boils down to military power).
Star Federation is actually a 40% bonus now in Dark Avatar. Late beta change.
I've seen this happen as well. Normally the AI will go for the tech. But sometimes they won't. It's one of those things where I'll probably have to hard-code the AI to handle that mega event if it becomes too common of a thing for them never to go for it.
You know, you make practically death threats in the manual and read me and elsewhere about the video drivers needing to be updated and yet..here we are. Seriously, update your video drivers. Driver Date: 9/12/2003 08:43:24
Here is a review of the original GalCiv back from 1995: http://www.os2ezine.com/v1n2/galciv.html The AI's that control your opponents are all run on seperate threads and as a result you'll rarely notice any delays between turns. With this level of multithreading Galactic Civilizations is one of the few games that lends itself well to SMP (Symetric Multiprocessing--more than o
The original Galactic Civilizations (OS/2, 1993) was the first PC game to have a multithreaded AI. Before any chess games. Before any strategy games. Another point of fact -- the original Galactic Civilizations was the first commercial multithreaded consumer game. So yes, the AI is calculating while you are taking your turn. At the time, it was discussed how chess AIs would benefit from using the same model as Galactic Civilizations.
The only difference is that the launcher supports Norwegian version strings. No changes to the game.
Agreed and in the meantime, our team and look at it with that symptom noted.
Plus, go to ATI's site and get the latest drivers. Those look like the base Vista drivers.
Could it be a bad CD? Is this GalCiv II or GalCiv II Gold?
Thanks! And yes, those serial #s that come with it will take care of everything.
My guess is with the nvidia 8800. We have not tried out the nVidia drivers with the 8800 and GalCiv II because everything seems okay. Try this: From a command prompt, run it as c:/>gc2darkavatar w (from the dark avatar directory). The w paramater will run it in a window.
"Question. Howcome the Arceans (2nd SG) and the Torians didn't see the towed stargates coming? Were they "distracted"? Oh, they weren't looking into space, because they weren't expecting company. But wait, the Arceans already had a visit from the Drengin..." This part I have to respond to because I think half t
Actually, farming was initiated right after the last ice age, when glaciars retreated and therefore made terrain viable for farming - and climate improvements helped too of course I find it difficult to believe that for almost 100,000 years 2 space-faring civs, which had already sent probes to other star systems (can't think of what kind of propulsion tho
Oh, the night is still young. Another game: Better results. New adaptation code to have the AI players be more likely to graduate from Frigates to capital ships depending on their logistics strategy.
Yea, they're our partner over in Europe. Very excited to work with them.
Thanks! We plan to have an update tomorrow. Won't affect all this of course but will improve a few things.
You are supposed to be able to use your existing ship designs but they won't contain the actual goodies (or aren't supposed to).
You will know where the stars are. But it's not likely, even by the 23rd century, that we'll know of good planets hundreds of light years away.
