Nope, Neilo, without knowing what the component scores were, I can't do anything. :( I don't suppose you'd be interested in playing another Very Slow game? ;)
Sole Soul
Is it possible this is related to the UP decision restricting starbase module quantities, and the AI is making decisions based off of that even when it's not in effect? And misapplying it, apparently. In other words, how many modules do you see the AI make use of? LZ, you're suggesting the AI doesn't have a scroll button? That could also be the cause...but it definitely seems iffy. If done properly, the AI shouldn't -need- a scroll button.
Motti, okay, that jives with what I'd heard. Thanks, though. :) There was an ancient post I ran across quite some time ago suggesting that the score multipliers were actually higher for lower tech speeds...I've never done any research into it, though, seeing as it was so long ago, and everyone's pretty much used Very Fast for score, that I kind of assumed it had been patched out. Could you post up your final score and your component scores (social/mil/e

Not a bug. You got the Telenanth Mega Event. It increases all of the chosen AI's abilities by a small percentage each and every turn (something like 3% or 5%). (There's also a non-mega version, which only increases one ability each turn-or maybe the bonus was smaller; I've forgotten, sorry.)
I don't recall checking defenses-I haven't done much with TA in over a year. It's certainly possible I missed that-or that there was another ninja update which changed the values again. Since this is TA and you can see the tp for a tech by right-clicking it without actually having it available to research, can you verify whether that's the method you're using or if you're researching things first? I ask because TA's inflation taking effect at ce
With regards to weapons tech costs in TA, please be advised that the 2.x patch brought with it, in addition to the inflation change, a hidden modifier of 50% (that is, a 1.5x multiplicative modifier) to all red techs-in other words, weapons and planetary invasion techs. Just thought you should keep that in mind if you intend to balance the costs of weapons techs versus defense techs.
Motti, notwithstanding your full year zero games, I believe Neilo was referring specifically to the "spend 3x the cash you have until you meet the AIs" part of it, which is not quite contingent on a planned end date-although sooner is normally better! :)
Due to TA's custom tech trees, I'd guess any file replace from DA would be invalid. You can certainly open them up side-by-side in a text editor and copy the relevant portions over, though.
I had thought there were only 2 of each of the 700% tiles, but it's possible in older patches there were 3. What version are you on, again? And IIRC it was reduced further, to only one of each per galaxy, in TA. Maybe it was 3 in DA and 2 in TA-I've forgotten, and I don't know where I placed my research files. I suppose it's possible that one 700% manu would turn into a 700% research or vice versa...but I don't believe that I've EVER seen
Nothing wrong with that-7 is quite nice. Yup; that's why I figured I could hold onto it for a while. I've only got 2GB in mine, so going to upgrade it to 4GB as well while I'm at it.
Technically anything after about the 8th (I forget exactly) turn decreases your score, given certain assumptions, such as already being at the maximum potential, but since you're still growing that's not true, and in any case it'll get flagged that early. Not to mention you can't do it before what, the 9th as SD? I got my copy of 7 when MS did their student deal, so I got 7x64 Pro for $30, and I'll be perfectly content to use it for a number of years. <p
How about custom civilizations then with standard tech trees?
Custom races are fine, as long as it's a valid raceconfig. Which means using one of the stock trees, not using too many ability points, no inherent bonuses to abilities, and no more starting techs than you can purchase with your starting research points (which should be 200). There are maybe a couple other things that could break it, but that would require
It was your bankruptcy that required you to have higher morale, yes. 20% doesn't lose pop, 19% does. The stated morale is sufficient for 20% approval at 20B pop with no morale structures, running at 79% taxrate. I suspect you're correct on the point about PQ10s, in which case only 18B pop for them. I'd honestly forgotten that.
A bit offtopic, but while I've never actually played DemiGod, I do own it (still in the box!) If it's half as much fun as everyone seems to think it is, I could go for some games with you guys.
What about custom tech-trees, improvements, and ship modules? Will they raise the flag? Also, how about modifying the individual base technologies, like what the Space Weapons fix and Tech-Tree mods do?
Yes. Any alterations whatsoever to the tech tree, planetary improvements, ship components, etc, will trip the flag. It's still possible to post such a game to the MV, though, and
20B for class 10 and above, 18B for clas 8/9, 13B for less IIRC. HWs should be 19B because 21B is too much. 5 morale resources, all morale techs, 10 starting morale, all morale trade goods. No VRCs. Any racial morale/resources/etc above that is excess as you can only achieve 100% after depreciation by population (the numbers listed give us 98 for 20B, which is close enough). That's for DA. Numbers are a little different for TA particularly if you
8 turns/16 turns for non-SD, 4 turns/8 turns for SD (general talk/declare war talk). Which gives Feb 1st/March 1st for SD/non-SD respectively. SD = Super Diplomat, obviously.
Cheat flagged games show up with their score, but they're not calculated into your character's score. I'm unclear whether they decrease the contribution from other games, but I could have sworn they didn't. I believe you meant April 8th, as a game must be longer than 12 turns (April 1st is actually the 13th turn, but the first turn doesn't count for scoring purposes). Invalid raceconfigs will also disqualify you, for instance if you were to somehow ac
Yes, two systems of 7. I game, but I don't buy things as soon as they come out, in general. I'd love to see a 64-bit aware GC3, or something else that could make use of more RAM. What other benefits could we expect from a 64-bit aware game?
1.8e was the fleet bug, I remember that from repeatedly having to tell new players about it. The MCC change is a TA change, and in fact I believe a TA 2.x change. But it is one of the reasons I still prefer DA-not to mention that there aren't as many filler techs, and research both doesn't cost as much initially per XML cost, as well as doesn't inflate as much. Oh, and my Tech Capital actually doubles planetary research in DA, instead of functioning as a pl
