I think I covered this by posting in the other thread, just trying to play by the rules here. I'd like join the MVL using my secondary character a.k. a. [link="http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=18514"]Captain Oblivious[/link], that I use for fooling around and testing things. Looking forward for a chance to try this out.
Thanks... I was in the middle of editing my post, and the edit got lost as well as the button... So, I just wanted to point out that I'd like to do this on my secondary character a.k. a. [link="http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=18514"]Captain Oblivious[/link], that I use for fooling around and testing things. Looking forward for a chance to try this out.
Wish I would have seen this earlier, I'd like to put my character up for consideration, it that's still possible.
It's even more of a bummer seeing your ships lose their movement points when there aren't any races in the game with the super-isolationist ability *sigh* I guess the reason for this reply is to point out that there is a bug with ship movement that results in random loss of movement points (random in amount of points as well as random to which/how many ships as well as random to game turn and whether being atuo-piloted or hand-moved). I don't know the cause, but when it does h
[quote]It really just involves taking the galaxy as quick as possible in order to spend the rest of the game developing/building score. In the above game I had 465 total planets, by 14 months in I had I think 427 of them and before the end of reported year one(or shortly thereafter) had 464 planets.[/quote] How the frak can that be done?!? (I assume you're playing on suicidal as well) I can see rushing spore ships and such on low-density maps, but 400+ planets in little over a year? T
Just tested it in my current DA 1.80g game, the Research Coordination Center does indeed give me a roughly 25% increase in planetary research points with both civilization and planetary focus set to 100% research. edit: And the Stock Market costs me 1158 to purchase, while the Banking Center costs 948 on a fresh planet.
When you launch the game, a launcher screen should appear with a button labeled "Switch Chapters" Use that button to switch to the Dread Lords chapter, and you should be good to go.
I'm looking for help deciphering the numbers displayed by ships for destination. For example: Thalan Fleet Destination: 174,159 Where is 174,159? I thought this was an x,y notation using parsecs, but the numbers don't always add up (occasionally, but not often enough to make sense), even when I factor in the fact that the first row and column of sectors is zero and not 1. Anyone else figure this out? Thanks
I asked a similar question myself not long ago, and the sad answer was no :( I'm in a similar boat as you, playing a long gigantic map regretting the color choices I made. Metaverse is a way for you to submit your high scores to the website, so all players can compare their high scores. To do this, you need to select the metaverse button at the beginning screen of the game. Metaverse games don't allow cheats or mods. A regular saved game can't be switched to a Metaverse game and vic
While perusing my prefs.ini file (Dark Avatar) I found this entry: ConqueredShipsSurvive=1 I'm wondering if this toggles the tie-rule on/off? I probably won't get a chance to test it myself for a while, does anyone else know?
1)Ship movement. (bugs, getting stuck, pathfinding) 2)Gaurd Mode, Sentry Mode, Retreat mode working predictably 3)Typos, missing text, grammer mistakes corrected 4)Interface Tweaks (drop down menues, keyboard shortcuts) 5) Implement [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/311027"]this [/link]for the AI ;) those are my ASAP requests.
Yeah. I hope this wasn't just some quirk. 1.80g has been out for a while, so I doubt this is some new code added in. I haven't tried ToTA yet (although I did pre-order it) Wonder what Frogboy would have to say?
Playing Dark Avatar 1.80g, suicidal difficulty... I'm playing as the Thalans, in a long, drawn-out war with the Drath. Each turn when I hit the turn button, I had become acustomed to clicking through the numerous battle sequences. Clicking almost too fast, I thought I saw the Arceans attack one of my ships! I thought perhaps this was just a graphical glitch. I had been at peace with the Arceans throughout the enitre game, had great relations including trade a
Sweet! I was just thinking about this game the other day too lol... But the one I remember was monochrome, on the original Apple II, didn't have graphics like the one in the link 2 posts above.
I'm sort-of having the same problem. My ships randomly lose movement points. doesn't matter if they're in a fleet, freshly built, or deep in enemy teritory. I'm aware of the fleet movement bug that was corrected in 1.80g.100. I was able to do a full uninstall and get the 'real' 1.80.g.100 after following the [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/167594/page/3"]steps CariElf posted[/link]. Doing so fixed the problem with fleets not wanting to auto-pilot long distance, but alas now I must anticipa
Yes, I'm looking forward to and think it'll be worth the wait. That being said, I'm going to do my best to wait a couple weeks to allow for more patching. I pre-ordered the expansion but have yet to download it. In the meantime, I'll continue this huge suicidal (and frustratingly buggy X-( ) DA Metaverse game that should keep me tied up for another week. (I'm SO hoping that the bugs I've been unable to get resolved will be resolved in ToTA)
Is it possible to change your race/ship colors mid-game? All too often for me, what looks good in the game setup ends up looking awful mid-late game. I found the color values in the customrace xml files; So I saved and exited the game, changed the values and then loaded my saved game back up. The colors remained the same, so I'm guessing GalCiv ignores that file once the game first begins... *shrug* Anyone have a light bulb they could shine over my h

Playing Dark Avatar v 1.80g.100: First off, the behavior I am reporting is not the common "fleet movement bug" that was resolved in 1.80g.x In my 2 most recent games, I noticed that my ships would randomly lose one of their movement points. These are metaverse games, prior games did not have this issue. 2 examples to illustrate: 1) A ship with a movement speed of 3/3 is moved 2 squares in open space, all is fine, but when trying to move to a third square
[quote]Is there any way to change difficulty levels during a game? I have a really good game going right now, but I should have played on a harder setting.[/quote] I sure wish there was! All too often in 4x genre games, I find myself at the "I've basically already won the game" point, but wanting the game to continue. Inevitably, I find myself giving the opponents money, technology, planets, etc. in an attempt to artificially raise the difficulty level without having to start a new ga
[quote]Metaverse shouldn't mind so long as you use the exact same serial on both. We don't mind either way.[/quote] Wonderful! Of course, it just had to start snowing again :(
I would like to install Galactic Civilizations II and the expansion(s) on my laptop, with the intention of being able to continue my saved games from my primary machine while on the road, or, more likely in my case, on the backyard deck once the weather here in Michigan starts to improve (sometimes it's nice to get out of the basement office and watch the deer and rabbits run through the trees :) ) Any problems with this? I haven't tried it yet. <
Would disabling sounds in the game options be the easiest solution to this problem, if it is indeed caused by the Miles Sound System? I've been getting the CTD problem frequently in late-game on gigantic maps, with the debub.err showing many "Out of sample handles" messages. Just a thought.
What makes a good 4x game? Maybe it's the 5thX - experience
