As I already said before, adding multiplayer in a game such as GC2 is a task that can be done quickly and easily. It doesn't have to be some mambo-jambo-mega good looking with lotsa lotsa options and perfectly balanced. I don't care about any of those things... In fact I'm going to compare GC2 with another great similar game you all played: Heroes of Might and Magic 3. But its too hard/complex/it will take trillions of tax payers dollars to implement MP, why not spend tim

There is a slight difference.. that $100 dollar bill has a huge power behind it, while software someone pirated has only the ability to entertain or improve your experience while using PC. You can't use it to buy a car, a gun, a whore or whatever else that comes on your mind... well exept if you sell that same software that you pirated... Now, that IS a genuine theft, since your costumers would be willing to pay for the software and represent real potential costumers, and money they give you for

Before I bought my PC, I've spent quite some time getting in touch with latest technological achievements in IT industry, studying prices, quality of products and such. As the result I got the best configuration I could have got for the money I had on me. When I was buying my fridge, I've spent time comparing volume, durability and power consumation of engine, quality of material used etc. The result was that I got the best fridge I could with money I dedicated to buying of same. I have

I've never been one to judge too quickly another country w/o getting extencive evidence before stating my opinion. Therefore I did a quick search on teh internetz (and combined it with knowledge I already have about Iraq and its tolls) and found some very interesting stuff out there. I will make a comparison of life in Iraq before US invasion and after (not getting into the facts it was illegal war and such). before Iraq invasion: One president in 24 years (Saddam Husein).<br/
One must wonder why this country keeps getting involved in long, drawn-out wars with no clear conditions for victory. But honestly, the answer is pretty simple. Historically, money has always been a great reason for war, and it's no different here. Our government has decayed into a type of soft fascism thanks to the rampant lobbyism that buys off almost all of our elected officials. Many of these lobbyists represent corporations that have made record profits off of Iraq. Between the defen

indeed 10k bc bruto profit is very much achievable, playing large maps and with say 100-200 planets under control; however following same logic if playing with even remotely competitive AI opponents having say 100+ planets, the maximum damage 30 spies can inflict upon that kind of vast economy is pretty much nonexistent, maybe even contra-productive considering how easily AI can take out a spy one spent a small fortune to train.. however, i too have noticed sometimes that AI like to ga

it is quite amusing to me that US citizens blame the .... well lets call it animosity.. that the rest of the world has for US gov and in smaller extent to US people in general (i guess the reason for that is because those citizens are living in the "land of the free" but where no one uses the "freedom" to make their country and the world in general better, in fact they either don't care or do quite the opposite) all on Bushes administration... whenever i talk to my american friends and world and

well, personally, i don't see any reason why Gal.Civ.2 shouldn't have mp... when i read Frogboy's attitude towards mp, i think that the main reason for not having mp is balance issues, and while i can almost instantly name 10 and more things that would be totally unbalanced if mp should ever be implemented, i don't think balance is such a big deal... for eg. i've played Europa Universalis 3 in mp quite a bit, and hell knows it could be totally unbalanced, like one player playing with France and

unfortunately, the costs of spies goes up 10 bc for each next spy, and jumps up after each 4th spy (5th spy is around 250 cash, 9th is 500 i think, 13th is 750, 17th is around 1250, 21st is some 2500 etc. 29th spy should be around 5500 or so), meaning that spy-spam tactics wont work on small maps at all, and even on larger maps could take huge amount of cash you could divert to something else. personally i use spies for 3 reasons: to get low level espionage for every other player, so i

I'm saddened with decision that tech inflation should be put out of the game. Don't get me wrong I didn't like the effect of the same ingame, but the problem I (and I believe most of others who complained about it) encountered wasn't the inflation itself, since it represented only few percent increase after each new tech researched. The main problem was that after XX tech researched the cost of all techs would double ! That steep increase in cost is what was "gamebreaking" since it led to the si

thx for responses Marvin Kosh and WIllythemailboy; actually i remembered combat system as i read your posts (tho i thought that off type def. was counted as 1/2, not sqrt, but it has been quite a while ago since i read about that), and thanks for clearing up the luck thingie to me :)

sry for hijacking thread, but since it its already newbish q&a i'd like to post two questions myself if OP dont mind ;) one thing has been bothering me for as long as I play GalCiv: what is exactly "luck" and how does it effect the game ? does it work something like creativity or .. ? and second, does anyone know how exactly does the fighting work ? i'm talking about for eg. a ship with attack value of 6 never dealing 6 dmg, and ship with attack value of 1 attacking same type defense (va

hi all, here's one newbie [link="http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=18649"](me)[/link], i'd just like to say i've familiarized myself with some game rules, but not quite with drafts, groups, points etc. so whoever gets stuck with me in their group gimme a PM and i'll bore you with stupid questions :)

first off, thanks for fast replies; second, thx for welcomes :) indeed i am quite hungry for points, but since i hate cheating in any form (be it human player or AI) i limit myself to lower level difficulties so don't expect anything awesome or smting ;) still i think i can contribute my team quite well, as soon as i find out about all new stuff in ToA and finish experimenting (that will be a while since fellas at Stardock did yet another awesome job). anyway, i'm gonna stop rambling no

giving some artifact of "ultimate power" to thalans mentioning that its power is going to grow as time passes and that i can choose to defeat now thalans or be enslaved by them later... after a few years of game i didnt notice much change in thalan empire; yes, they are more powerful in every aspect, but that can easily be explained by 10-12 planets they colonized while not having the necessary tech to do it...
Did that happen before they colonized those planets? If so, the

i didnt participate in beta, i bought ultimate pack some week ago, dl'ed it and installed it properly w/o any problems. they use colony ships for colonisation. no planets were conquered or changed aligiance. there was an event (not sure if its mega event since i've disabled them, yet some events pop up in some of my games, tho i'm not sure entirely if those are mega events - like some comet or was it supernova giving galaxy-wide population growth bonus) giving some artifact of

this happened in my latest game: thalans that had none (and still dont have any) of the advanced colonisation technologies required for colonising unhospitable worlds managed to somehow start colonising radioactive and heavy gravity worlds at whim after a while in game... this has never happened to me before, altho i dont have much experiance with ToA... any1 else encountered this problem ? is it a bug or is it perhaps connected with one of the events ?

I've encountered same problem as OP in several of my games, so in last game I took some notes. I'm playing largest map with Yor against 9 major and 8 minor AI opponents. Tech rate is set to very slow and AI is set to challenging. I've bought the game a week ago or so, and I wasn't in beta testing. The game is updated to latest patch available. Anyway, I've compared several tech costs though the game, for eg. the most expencive tech (needed for tech victory) at the begining of the game
