I was able to edit it with note pad, but does it have to be saved in .xml?

I try and open it with one of those and it doesn't work...I'll try it again though...thanks.

How do you edit the XML code? I can't find a way to do it. I want to edit the majors...XP

I specialize my ships to counter what the AI is doing...and I normally make my ships larger as I go so I can have fewer ships to slow my game down, and so I can destroy AI fleets with one ship that I apropriately call "Star Destroyer" (100 atk, 60 def) that only takes about 4 turns to build on my most productive planet. I do use tiny hulls...mostly for intercepting cargo hulls...like spore ships or troop transports.

Yeah, that's exactly why I don't like them...the spore ships just make them more threatening. (I finally took all of the Korath planets yesterday [surender turned off, so my game is taking forever]) But now that the Korath are gone, and I've researched everything I wanted to I turned research to 0% and am cranking out imensly powerful ships and everyone is like, "uh-oh...maybe we shouldn't have made him mad." XD

Err...The Korath are so agrivating. I will admit that the AIs do under utilize them, but it makes the game interesting trying to stop them when they can move 12 pc/week. I don't consider it cheap, just annoying. XD

Hey, nice to see you put your bit in. I usually do the same thing (keep peace until I'm ready, etc.) I think the only time I make peace is so I can build ships with out them being destroyed, or when I'm tired of having to defend my plantes from attacks...The only other time I made a peace treaty was with the Korath because they were sending a spore ship my way..0.o Now they are losing, badly, since I can stop their spore ships before they pose a threat. Thank everyone for kee
1) If I click on another civilizations planet, I can click on their ships to see what they are equipped with. Is this down to spies or is it a game flaw?
It's not a flaw...I actually use it in designing my ships...like seeing how fast their ships can go, what it's predominant weapon type (and how much attack it has in that type) and any defenses. I then counter that with custom ships. I honestly don't think it's a flaw...they would have fixed it in the DA expa

Yeah, if you have a military (or potential for one) you better darn well make sure you can support one. My taxing is at 80% with 1.028 Trillion people and I only make 500-something credits...it's tough to manage a military AND stay in the green. I like this...keep 'em commin'...XD (I hope you all enjoy reading these as much as I do.)

Why can't an AI win a diplomatic vicory? *feels n00bish*

I usually don't build a military till necessary, but I research the soldiering branch very fast so I can have max soldiering (not the Yor) while they have like 5 or 30 for their soldiering. I still research weapons and stuff like mad so I can counter enemy ships easily by making specialized ships. I only build up a military when I feel like killing someone or they attack me. Usually I don't give in to extortion because I need the money to build my economy/production/research up. <

I personally like to blitz and beat the code out of the AIs by constantly having them on the defense. What does everyone here on GalCiv do?

43 Replies 25,536 Views

Hahaha...good job...you do waht I do. I build a bunch of transports and blitz them. In my current game I started a war with the Korath and took about 8 planets or so in quickly. They were like, "waht the heck?!?!" (it was suicidal of me since they were so much stronger than I was) Blitz is the method of war I'm working on perfecting, once you blitz you have to consistently pummel them into submission...XD Once again, great job ^^ I hope to see many more victories from you.

The Korath in my games (normal difficulty) usually dominate thanks to their stupid spore ships. They never are able to spore a planet of mine because I'm always ready for them and send an interceptor with 15 pc per turn. They had a nice portion of the map until they got me mad ;) (they now face certain doom even though their military is twice as strong as mine) (thier military ranking nearly halved once I attacked)...XD Stupid Korath P.S. I play for fun so I only play on no

Does DA have an auto scroll feature because in my game it started to auto scroll. It wouldn't stop either, I had to quit the game all together and I haven't gone back to check it yet. Can anyone maybe help me?

“I certainly hope that this person has finally got it.” Mark mumbled to himself. His grandpa had told him stories of how he worked on the Human Genome Project when he was a young scientist, back in the day. Scientists in the 1990’s had begun to map out the entire human genome and it took them thirteen years to accomplish that monumental task. Mark liked stories as much as the next person, but couldn’t help but to let out a little chuckle thinking of his senile grandfather. Now, in th

This is only a prologue for the story I plan to write detailing how my custom race, the Lutarines, came about. I'm mostly puting it on here for some feedback, so go ahead and give me some criticism, just don't absolutely bash me...XD ---Prologue--- "Gah! I can’t work under this kind of pressure," running his hands through his graying hair. Mark sat behind a desk in a large room filled with the best and brightest of Earth working on a top secret project. "What’s that Mar
