Has anyone suggested permanent wormholes? Or a tech that allows ships to create them?

I managed to fix this by manually tweaking the screen resolution settings in the preferences file. For some reason the crash seems to kick it when its set to any resolution other than actual desktop resolution settings. I'm still getting crashes in the game - it basically stops working and drops back to desktop. I've not been able to play a full game without this happening. Next time it happens I'll post the debug file.

I had this problem on Beta 5 as well but it went away after I updated my video card drivers. Since the last couple of updates its back and I can't play the game at all. I get the menu screen and the game parameter screens but as soon as I click on Start Game it drops back to desktop. Any idea why this keeps happening? I'm running Vista Home Premium.

I've just noticed that TA has stopped working (completely) on my machine. I was running it fine up until a couple of beta updates ago. What happens is I get the menu screen and all the screens up until I actually start the game (right after choosing the opposing factions) - then it crashes to desktop. I can still load old save-games, but for some reason am unable to start a new game. I've tried reinstalling TA - but no joy. Any suggestions? BTW - this is on release 097[b].001<
