To the OP: those fragmented files are probably system files such as the MFT or a dynamically expanding pagefile. Auslogics can't defrag system files, but you can try a commercial defragger (free trial versions) which will do the trick. I use Diskeeper '09 Pro and it defrags all the system files, most of it without a boot-time defrag, and the remainder during a boot-time defrag. Works perfectly. My main XP desktop has 4 drives, a total of 1.4 TB. Diskeeper pro 2008 keeps them in excellent shape with it's background defrag mod and I don't have to do anything! I really like Diskeeper's stability, very low resource usage, and useful features (and no useless frills), it has never given me any trouble either. so I would not switch to any other defragger, free or otherwise. :)

Each defragger has it's own algorithm for defragging and optimization, so defrag times may vary greatly. I personally prefer the newest fully automatic defragmenters that defrag in real-time unlike older manual defraggers that need to be scheduled for late nights. Since the auto defraggers run using only idle resources, I can use the PC as usual even when multiple drives are being defragged. :) Very efficient and convenient- i never have to worry about when defrags begin or end, or spend any ti

I use Diskeeper Pro 2007 for both automatic and manual defrag of my drives. Great defragger..consumes barely any resources and defrags the drives nicely and quickly. It also has boot-time defrag and the option to resize the master file table. Try out the free trial versions at the diskeeper site to see if it suits your requirements; I'd suggest the Pro version rather than the Home (basic) or ProPremier (not cheap!).
