To: myfist0 -> I have tried it multiple times and in different saves and at different points To: lead head -> All latest updates are installed and it has been extra memory hungry but what do you mean by crashing above 2gb? My VitrualMem was at 2096 Mb whatever and I have 2Gb of RAM... so should be fine. Does get quite slow when I zoom in - but I stay zoomed out when I do it and it still crashes Anyother info you need or other ideas

This has not happened before; I'm playing Varsari and I hit 'go to war' with a current ally that I want to get rid off and the game crashes... I thought at first it was too memory hungry for the game to handle (could still be) but seems quite ingrained Anyway any thoughts? I can certainly give some more info if it helps Thanks crew
What kind of Crash dude and why? I can't help but my Diplomacy (latest updates) just started 'dumping' when hit 'Go to War' with an opponent one of my allies is fighting. Don't know what other particular details would be relivant at this stage Anyone experienced this? Thanks
Yeah fairly new monitor... 1yr half old. Does happen more often after it starts... even after re-loading the game only take half the time as before. Otherwise upon closer inspection my computer had become quite dusty internally - far quicker since my last clean. Anyway - thanks everyone for the help but I'll get some compressed air and give it all a good clean and that should limit the problems. All the best
Sigh... yes its the same - its ok I'm not quite that daft but I guess I didn't mention that information yet. Its a LCD monitor (ViewSonic VA1912wb); Native res. 1440 x 900 Any more ideas?
Yeah its set to the right setting for my monitor - 60 Hz - has 59 as well for some reason? Some big diff don't get it....
Hi All Both Entrenchment and Original 'Sins' have had a graphics problem usually after an hour or two of gameplay. This usually initiates when I like to zoom into a fleet (not huge either) from a Solar System/Galaxy view. The screen rapidly pulses with horizontal lines toward the bottom of the screen - similar to a TV and probably epileptic siezure inducing stuff. Strangely it sometimes stops but usually gets worse as play continues - and often resets
I haven't read Sun-Tzu yet but I'd think when you loose that many fleets you would try softer targets after a time or at least a bit while you attack the big target. Couldn't 'they' write in some code like (I'm no comp. programmer ) If military rating drops by certain % over short temporal scale - uncouple current target? I don't know I realise it's proabably a difficult algorithm to program but crikey its like they have a Fleet gathering point on your starbases every game...
Ok that seems reasonable - not one of my biggest gripes anyway. Wish someone could explain / correct the 1st one - that really is the big party killer for me Hear from you/someone else soon
Love this game but for the love of god the A.I is still terrible sometimes Every game it's; 1. Send whole fleet to be wiped out by seemingly inferior starbases [e.g Thalan starbase: A - 7,7,7 & D - 52,52,52 & 70 HP VS Terran +150 Attack & 50 Def & 700 HP ---- starbase somehow wins multiple times!] 2. Some races never seem to build up their planets AND/OR repeatedly build over wrong match for bonuses 3. Make peace
Same for Iconians - traded them heaps of good techs and didn't make use of them - left most planets bare + Miss-used bonus tiles (industry boost tile 300% had entertainment complex or something stupid, ect.) Yeah pretty dumb for intelligent!
Finding it much too easy to win by being a 'jack of all trades' researcher, always going for the best and shortest research fields. Tech tree should reward you for studying a 'branch' sequentially - such as halving the research time after 2 major techs in order (e.g Diplomacy) <
Usually early in the game, a fatal error occurs if an approval tile is clicked on to scroll down to see additional information - I'm sure the solution will be DON'T TOUCH IT THEN! But for the record, what do they do anyway? I've never seen any corresponding icon for any planetary improvements for the 'water-drop'let.
