Great ideas, the espionage definatly needs some work. Also it might ve worth saying that I will have ships blow up everything in orbit but it has to sit there and keeep blowing stuff up, they should consider allowing you to put ships in a enemy planets orbit once you destroy a ship. Also with communication lines they could add the ability to cut them off and therefor lose control of part of your empire. PLus they should add assasinations that would allow you to hurt a civ or

If you are playing against a civ that is near you a good trick is before they have built any military sorround the planet withs scouts that way they can not launch ships and therefor can not colonize worlds. You can do the same thing to a planet that is very powerful to prevent it from sending ships to destroy you

One thing that is possibale is to trade the tecks you have with one civ for theres then take those and trade them for another civ for theres and so on. If you have a good enough diplomacy and relation you can get all of the tecs the AI have

I find that the best way is to research medium hulls. Then builf fleets that have at least enough attack to take the dread lord ships out in one round that way at least one ship will always survive with one hit point
