Hmm, are you sure you blow up the right star? You're supposed to blow up your own star.

I am experiencing several random crash, + the infamous ALT+TAB crash under Vista... anybody else having problems? I've e-mailed the SmartException logs to Stardock, is that enough or should I post in the bug forum?
I kind of like the Star Gate idea. Set them up as two way star bases. Something that you could research. A star base that could be destroyed? Maybe even something where you could charge for usage? Definitely something that had little or no defenses and needed to be defended. Just an idea.
https://www.galciv2.com/Journals.aspx You need to download the file and extract it according to the instructions :)
Falkon: Check the Journals section of the forums for a link to the patch. It's not on SDCentral or Impulse yet...you have to download a zip It's like we're back in the stone age Sir Edge: We've got that pretty much fixed, but there's a few issues that have to be delt with before it's prime-time ready.
I downloaded the file from this thread and I unpacked the zip in my game folder. I suspecting something went wrong, now I know for sure. Thanks, I'll make it w
When I launch the game, it still says version 1.91; is that normal?
Ok, thanks :)
One related question... I don't think I've played an evil race before, but I was wondering if the penalty/bonus for your ethical choices vary? When playing the Terrans or Altarians for example, the good choice is always penalized; if you play an evil race like the Drengin or the Yor, is it the evil choice that is always penalized?
And I here I was wondering why it was so tough being Altarian! :D I chose neutral, but I was leaning a little more toward evil. Now that explains why I'm always losing cash :D Anyway, I'll probably start a new game tomorrow with the patch :) Thanks :)
I usually play by creating myself a custom race, and most of the time, I take the Terran tech tree, however, this time, I took the Altarian tech tree. Looking through the forums, I found this by one of the developper:
The Altarians lean 99% towards Good by default. You purposely get extra techs when you choose a Good ethical alignment when playing as them.
Now, would this apply to a custom race using the Altarian tech tree too? Is choosing a spec
Here is an extract of somnething I posted in another thread: ** MS has released two patches for Vista, wich apparently are not and will not be available on Microsft Updates. One of them is related to this: Microsoft Knowledge base First line of the problems reported: • The computer stops responding, and you receive a "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error message. well, I played the last mission tonight, and I have suffered a total of... zero crash. Nothing, rien, nada. So I think that patch solves the problem for Vista.
Hmm, I got another crash today, and SmartException did not log anything... Anyway, I have found something, took me a while, and I was only hinted at it by reading local newspaper. Ok, for SmartException, will send an e-mail next time it crash. For the saves, yeah, I figured out quickly enough that I need to save manually thanks
I got an other crash, this time while the autosave was performing its duty. I received an "Out of Memory" error, and looking at the task manager, Galciv2 used about 780mb RAM. Ah, see, I have two Debug.err files, one in the game directory (\Darkavatar), the other one in the saved game directory. Here is the correct one for this crash: P.S. I updated my audio driver prior to re-playing, so I now have latest drivers for everything. While playing the Dark Avatar campaign, whenever I finish the mission, I get a crash to desktop as soon as the briefing for the next mission loads. So far, I think I had the problem since the 3rd of the 4th mission, I can't remember if it crashed there in the first few missions, but it did crash a lot more often at that point. Right now, it rarely crash during a mission, unless I ALT+TAB to Windows (or I'm forced too by some application running), wich cause a crash about 1/3 - 1/4th of the tim
