Oh and this guy is trying to prevent some scam where someone is selling you a free in-game item called the Lucky Stone (looks like a ring). http://cgi.ebay.com/Dragon-Age-Origins-Lucky-Stone-NOT-RARE-PC-PS3-360_W0QQitemZ160380055787QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item25576570eb

I'm not opposed to these DLC's but I do feel that Warden's Keep was too short for the money I was charged. I don't have a problem with it coming out on the day of release since I accept their reasons as to why it happened. On the other hand, go look at ebay and see what people are selling relating to Dragon Age: Origins. People are paying as much as the new DLC is going to cost (and more!) for preorder exclusive items! One guy even wants $80 for

I almost did not purchase this game when I read about the "deluxe" version and all the stupid retail exclusives. I am already not happy with EA and if they continue to anger their customers I will simply do without any of the games that they publish. I preordered this on Impulse just because I don't care about any of those exclusive items - and I like Stardock.

It's being developed by Cryptic Studios and you can access their website here to see for yourself. http://www.crypticstudios.com/ It's going to take place during the most "current" time period (like during Picard's/Janeway's time it seems). I for one and am excited by also worried that it's going to be developed for the console too. That may result in some major dumbing down of gameplay due to the

Playing on a medium map with about 5 ascension crystals I noticed something odd when another race destroyed an unprotected starbase mining an ascension crystal. After rebuilding on the crystal with another constructor I noticed that my time to Ascension victory lessened by a certain percentage. Is it possible to exploit this by allowing that race to constantly destroy my starbases and then rebuilding on them to further lessen the time until my victory? I could not ver

First of all, I'm very excited to hear about a new Star Wars MMO. If it's halfway decent I'd be willing to try it for at least a few months, just for being Star Wars. Blizzard did something good for the MMO genre by being so successful, but also at the same time it's bad in that now big companies are going to look at this section of the PC market and say "Hey, me too(for $$$)." That brings me to Age of Conan (in response to FrostMage asking if this is a worthwhile MMO to try out

I suggest also re-doing your stats (or attributes) so that your civilization naturally has a higher morale. You are able to change this when you start a new game. This doesn't help you in your current games but I think it will help most new players (as it does for me) deal with the issue of morale. (you will have to re-arrange your attributes and will end up getting rid of or lowering the points on other attributes to have some for the morale attribute) Also, you can mouse over your

Not to burst your bubble or to take away from the game's AI, but I think the computer opponent will "naturally" go for starbases. Especially if these starbases are away from your planets and not very upgraded. I recall reading a thread where one player used a starbase to lure ships to it so that he could eliminate the opponent's ships conveniently.

Someone mentioned Star Control but the best game ever to be on floppy disk has to be Star Control II! It was my first PC game and it's still getting mentions in the gaming media like in some recent PC Gamer issues. By the way, the game is free to download and I have probably gone back to play this game over 8 times throughout my life. Great game with a mix of different genres- definitely unique for its time.

I think Drrider most likely has found your problem. If you have the advanced form of colonization without the basic form of extreme (X environment) colonization, then you will not be able to colonize that kind of world. Also, I am pretty sure I got a partial tech trade once - the computer didn't seem to have finished the tech but somehow traded it to me. I double checked my research screen and it seemed to boost my research by taking off a number of weeks. (I had just gotten the gam

Check out the tutorial on waypoints when you load the game. You can have starports make ships and automatically send them to a waypoint (say to attack a nearby civilization). Once you place ships on sentry, they should remain that way until they see another civilization's ship in their area of influence, so you wouldn't have to hit sentry on each turn unless you put your guards in a heavily travelled area of space. I'm not sure what you're doing here, sounds like you're u

Heh SideMancer, the people of Insertion didn't mind at all. Firstly, they are the Yor, and are not as sentimental as organic beings are. Secondly, they were the first colonizers of that planet because I had researched extreme planet colonization to get that planet deep in Iconian space. TheDoomBringer, I am not using any mods or going into files to edit these planet names. They are able to be changed in game due to design. Click on the planet and there should be a button on the b

I'm really enjoying this AAR, but what is this event in post #80? I have never formed an alliance ( hell, I don't know how to lol, guess the Yor are too evil) so I am unfamiliar with galactic events that may be triggered with forming an alliance. If you are just creating this event for story purposes then I apologize for the useless post. It also makes me wonder if you just killed off some of your populations by removing farms to reflect your story.

You can edit the planet's name, even if it's not owned by you. For example, you can rename the Drath homeworld "Next Target" if you like. When I start obtaining alot of worlds I rename the planets with names that give me a hint to its function. Like in my first metagame, I named a planet Insertion - this planet was placed in the middle of Iconian space and I focused on making it a staging area/repair planet/warship builder for my attack by making lots of factories and a starport. Just

Maybe someone already made a mod for this? You should check it out in the library section.

I'm not sure what you mean about the game story being wrong about stargates. The Drengin prepared for 70,000 years for the invasion of the Torians. Most of that time was due to their stargate needing that much time for its automated engines to bring them to the Torian star system. Once it was in place it shortened traveling time to a few months or something along those lines. Are you saying that once the stargate was in place travel should have been instantaneous and not just shorteniing a

I was wondering if people noticed certain triggers for the Artificial Intelligence starting wars. One thing I noticed is that an AI will declare war (if they are predisposed to doing this-militaristic) if another culture's influence is winning over their planet. Two examples I can give is the Iconians declaring war on me (I was the Yor) because my influence was overlapping one of its planets. They claimed that "we were too evil to be allowed to live" as their excuse. Another ex

Is the maximum morale bonus you can get from those free-floating morale resources 100%? Or do they continually stack along with your galactic resort, harmony crystals, etc.?

5 Replies 5,176 Views

I'm fairly new but is there any point to research down the line "good and evil?" Most of the time I go neutral with humans and evil with Yor. Maybe if I went good with my early decisions as the Yor I wouldn't have been warred on by the Iconians who said that "we were too evil for them to bare."

3.) Enemy Detection: I think for this step you can place scout ships at certain areas where you might think enemy ships would be travelling and set them on "Sentry." You can do this by selecting the ship and pressing S or double clicking on a ship and selecting sentry as one of the functions. I think by doing this you will be centered on the ship that spots another race's ship when you finish using all your move spaces on a ship you are controlling manually or if you finish a turn.

Heh I like MarcusCardiff's idea, give the minor race some crappy planet and form an alliance with them - just to see how they fare. I'm going to try this in my next game.

After looking at this post: https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=346&aid=152343#1258705 I realize now that alot of people have problems with the new spy system in DA. My post was actually a request on how to more effectively use spies in Dark Avatar, not start a new thread about how the spy system should be re-worked Serptico

6 Replies 6,244 Views

Thanks for the advice, Evil Druid. I did what you recommended and even had a few spies as backup in case they got nullified. I reached a couple lower tiers of espionage and even stole some technology off that race. Not sure how cost efficient this is but I think I'll incorporate the use of spies on races that seem to be the highest in the tech trees from now on.
