Lots of bits. More than in the box at the bottom. How do I check the version?

Hi, just joined, and I have a bit of a problem with ship desgining. I can design the ship as normal, but as soon as I confirm it, almost all of it vanishes. It seems to retain the functionality of any lost parts though. Does anyone know why this is happening?
