I'm having a very hard time keeping industrial at 100% while staying in the green. What are the secrets or planet builds that you use to maximize money? Do you have a formula for a cash cow planet?

I started the dread lords campaign with the humans, but can never research trade. It's not even on the tech tree, but when I start a "new game" skirmish with the exact same setup, I can research trade. Anyone have a fix or know the reason for this? It's almost impossible to have 2 planets only and keep a green economy without any trade.
