Hey that worked like a charm! I noticed it was a language setting issue, I'm guessing it had something to do with the intro loading "tool tip" screen during galaxy creation. But at any rate, it worked like a champ, thank you very much for your very swift help!

Does it have something to do with my installing the game on my I: drive? From the debug info it looks like it's having trouble finding a lot of files. I generally install only my OS on my C: drive, in the event it gets corrupted and I have to reformat and reinstall Windows, I don't have to worry too much about any lost data and I only have to worry about backing up my My Documents. Unfortunately many games aren't flexible enough to work with the different drive. I can'

Ah there we go, thank you, I saw other people posting their debug.err, but couldn't find it in the game directory, I didn't realize it was in the My Documents area, heh. I just re-installed GalCiv2 and GalCiv2: Dark Avatar and attempted to start a game under Dark Avatar. I customize a gigantic galaxy and create a custom race. When I finished setting everything and hit "Next" it comes up with the screen which, as I recall, usually lists what the CPU is doing during map creation, and it says "Loading" at the bottom. After about 15-20 seconds of nothing, it crashes to the desktop with the following error. It's consistent and happens every

Does anyone know how to disable Spore Ships? I haven't seen an option during game creation, but I might've missed it. A hack or patch to disable them would be awesome. I think they're one of the worst ideas in 4X game I've seen in a long time. I lost 12 planets in a single turn thanks to them, the next turn another 8, and I've been losing 2-4 per turn since. Of course the fleets of ships with 500+ attack wiping out my defenders opening up planets for sporing doesn't help

Well, I haven't noticed this specifically, but for HP weirdness I have noticed that sometimes I'll click on a ship and it'll show a specific damage/defense/HP value. Then I'll click "Details" and the number listed on that screen will be completely different. Fleets of ships are even worse, they're almost always completely wrong, I'm not sure if that's a bug or just how fleets are supposed to work. Here's an example I'm looking at right now: One of my ships: Defender Mk
