When I purchased Gal Civ 2 via the download, I received 1 serial# that I put in during the install. When I went to update the game via Stardock, it didn't work, but I was able to get the correct upgrade key via email. Although this key works, I was having troubles getting it to work at first (i.e. I was clueless to what I was doing). Anyhow, I had them email my key again, but this time I got a third key. Basically, what I'm saying, is I have 2 upgrade keys that work, not sure if that

I'll let you know in the next couple days if it happens in windowed mode or not. It definately sounds like some kind of video driver problem. Edited 08/11/07: I'd just like write that I haven't had a chance to play again in quite some time, however, I ran across this tidbit on the recent Windows Vista "compatability" update... The computer stops responding, and you receive a "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error message. You can restart
Ah, It happened again, this time w/out the screen fading to black. Here's the debug.err file. This time, I had a fleet of 4 ships attacking another fleet (plain view, not cinematic or anything), and in mid laser-beam shot, I moused to the left to look at something else, and it froze instantly. I have the newest nvidia drivers, the 158.24. Also, I was able to avert the same problem on a different game last night. Basically, what happens is my monitor will fade to black and flicker once or twice... if I can alt-tab out when that starts to happen, I am able to get to the desktop, where i get a popup from the taskbar that basically says the video driver has failed and recovered... then I am able to alt-tab back into the game and all is well. Next time it happens, I'll let it ru
I was having the same problem last night. I tried again tonight and it worked for me.
I just bought GalCiv2 last night via internet and got it all downloaded (even the heightmaps). Anyhow, I randomly get game freezes. Not CTDs, but the game freezes up on me... I can move the mouse, but can't click anything... after trying to Alt-Tab or Ctrl-Alt-Del for a while, the pointer freezes up too, and I have to do a hard reboot. When this happens, I do not get a debug.err file. For example, it just happened to me at roughly 8:50pm (pst) on June 20th, and the only debug.err files in my
