I don't see how , and besides you can watch the comp play itself all the time. Each race plays independently so if you have multiple races in the game besides your self your seeing the comp play itself ! Well, they do it somehow. That's how they test and tweak the AI, you know... But the problem with what you suggest is that since you're in the game, the AI is responding to not only what it originally is
